Question Question...How to Get High Def........?

Within the last day or two i saw a post where it was explained by someone how you can get HD quality movies from older movies that were made before there was HD TV. It was on to explain how film is actually shot in a higher quality then 1080p. The post has two graphs and a good explanation. I tried to explain this to someone and i could not remember how it was worded. I tried using the search function and i could not find it. Does anyone know what two post I'm making reference too? Thanks

They have to transfer it from the film if I understand it right into the digital realm, and I know that film still has better quality than any HDTV and any digital camera to date. I'm not exactly sure of the process, but I bet it involves a bunch of expensive equipment.

Film is much higher resolution than 1080p. The film is litterally scanned in at a desired resolution to create a master. The master is then compressed using a codec to fit it on the consumer media format.
