Yep. Been wanting that to come back in print forever. One of my favorite films of all time, I sold the DVD under the assumption it would come on blu-ray, it took way too long! Think that was like 5 years ago. A few of these films will actually be new to me. Before blu-ray I'd really only seen La Strada and Nights of Cabiria, which I had on DVD. But I've loved these other films as well. Think I'll be selling the blu-rays and getting this box.

Not much else can be said. Hopefully we get the same for a Kurosowa set next year. This and a complete Kurosowa box would be probably the two biggest releases left for me on blu-ray.

I got impatient earlier in the year and imported the March 2020 Studio Canal version. Which is currently probably the best looking Fellini on home video.

I wonder if Criterion's version will be more compressed (more supplementary materials crammed on the same disc).

Anyway, I'll be owning it twice now. I'm also happy La strada is back too.

That's fantastic. I already own a great copy of City of Women and the other biggies (Casanova, Orchestra Rehearsal, Voice of the Moon) are easy to get.

The criterion price seems pretty good for $199.99 on sale from 249.95

I wonder if any site will be any cheaper for it, other then the bn sale if they have it again

Will await reviews. Amarcord and Roma if I remember correctly had questionable color grading for their recent 4K masters. Want to see if this is still the case or if that carried over to the other films.

Saw 4K DCPs of both film in theatres, Amarcord definitely have severe color grading problems, Roma is close to the 2010 2K grade, which is better but still have some problematic scenes.

I’m afraid this will overshadow the Varda collection. Why get the BD collection of the best films by a woman when you can get one directed by a man?

What a stupid, baiting comment.

Back to this amazing announcement, Criterion is really hitting home runs on these box sets. Kurosawa around the corner....

Despite your woke politics, the free market reigns supreme. You can’t force someone to buy something if they don’t want it and restricting another “potentially” competing product is just ****ed.

I would argue (hope) just the opposite. The more film fans discover the joy of exploring the body of work of great filmmakers, the more open people will become to those who are critically lauded, but who might be less 'household names' - male or female.

I love that Criterion have been upping their game in this area, and hope they continue to do so. So often a film-maker's less known works may be as good as - or even better than - those that happened to garner all the attention.
