Anyone else notice changes in Warner's prices?

I have noticed that Warner's new releases have gone from $23.95 last year to $24.95 and $25.15 on recent and upcoming releases. Its only a dollar, not a big deal, but it is interesting. I thought the idea was for prices to gradually go down.... These are Amazon prices BTW...

I have feeling once hd-dud goes away like the dinosaurs, we are going to pay dearly for it with one HD standard. After all competition is what keeps prices in check.

thats why i bought so many titles when those were running. now i will be cutting back dramatically. maybe 1 title a month. but it would be the same had hd dvd won. their movies cost the same, and they're crap. hopefully in july warner will start using avc and pcm more.

Ever heard of the term "shooting yourself in the foot"? If warners prices go up as a result of ending the war, they'll hurt themselves by doing so.

What we can hope for once all the studios are releasing Blu-ray titles is that the competition among the several studios will drive the prices down once they are competing against one another for our Blu dollars--the same way they have always competed against one another with regular DVDs.

In addition, we can hope that they'll do the same as they do with regular DVDs in that the major retailers, competing against one another for our Blu dollars, offer a reduced price for newly produced titles the first week they are available in stores.

When all the studios are doing Blu, that kind of natural competition will be able to return to the marketplace.

P.S. It is, after all, a Blu-ray Disk Association, not a Blu-ray Disk Trust, which is illegal in the U.S.

If they don't see discs moving, then they'll lower price.

It will go down if they want to capture the DVD market...even after they after they capture the DVD market, price will go down as well...

Right, and the biggest competitor is still DVD. If the studios want the people to rebuy their movies on BD they have to stay competitive in regards to DVD prices.

Don't worry, prices will fall in the long run.

Yeah, after all, DVD had no competition and look how expensive they were and continue to be.

Economics 101. Supply and Demand, Prices were high because the demand was low and that in turn meant they limited the supply. There's still not enough market share to flood the market with them, thus prices are still high.

Once adoption has hit, there will be big demand, if the supply is not there that would fuel a large spike in price, however, they'll see the demand and attempt to meet it, since they'll all be trying to meet it, they'll all be mass producing them, which floods the market with supply in relation to the demand and thus lowers prices.

there was a guy guy who paid 19.99$ for a hddvd, another who payed the same for the blu-ray.
neutrals like WB were happy with that and so were we. But one day, they decided to kill one of those guys...
now the guy is gone, but richisim WB still needs its money. so they decided that the other guy will have to pay twice the price to set the balance.

I emailed Amazon to inquire about this, and they gave me some long winded answer about msrp. They did, however, knock all the $25.15 titles down to $24.95. So enjoy the 20 cents!!

Walmart will still sell their BDs $5 cheaper than all other retailers. DVDs were high in B&M stores at first too. I think $29.99 - $34.99 will be the norm for most movies, but we should see the retun of the first week discounts like we do on SDs. I bought a lot of BDs recently to give my support to the war. Now that the war is over, I don't feel any sense of urgency to buying titles and can wait for online bargains or prices to drop. Winning the war doensn't necessarily mean we will have high prices forever. At least I really hope not.

Yes please let's not start with now that blu-ray won we are going to pay dearly. This is of course for all the low posters with the doom-gloom attitude. It get really old rather quickly.

I wouldn't put the blame on Warner. It is Amazon that is raising their prices. Check out the MSRP on the older discs and the newer discs and I bet the they are no different. It is Amazon setting their own prices not Warner. They gotta pay for all that free shipping somehow.

Acutally doing a quick check on Amazon the MSRP of 300 was $34.99 and the MSRP for The Invasion is $35.99. A whole dollar! Gee, I think I am going to go broke. At least they aren't charging $39.99 like they were for their combo discs.
