I keep hoping Flight Of The Phoenix will get a U.S. release.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Criterion have held onto the rights because a label like Kino or Twilight Time would of released it years ago. The Fox German Blu is region free, cheap, and features a newer master compared to the Masters of Cinema release.

If you're right, I hope Criterion gives it a release soon enough. It's always been odd that this doesn't have a US release as it's a pretty popular 60's title.

Great thread! Aldrich is one of my very favorite directors. The big two for me which haven't received blu-ray releases yet are Hustle and his brilliant final film ...All the Marbles.
I understand why it wouldn't be listed in this thread, but it's worth pointing out that The Garment Jungle has received recent blu-ray releases from Indicator and Imprint, of which a fired and uncredited Aldrich directed approximately two-thirds of. |

Would like to see Aldrich's Hustle on Blu-ray. Glad to see it mentioned in this thread. Seems to have become undeservedly almost obscure.
Watched Kiss Me Deadly again last night. Nice Blu-ray from Criterion. The brutality of this film still has the power to shock. Perhaps my favourite film noir. Aldrich deals in brutality like few other directors. |

I've become an Aldrich completionist myself. Once WAC are done with their current musical-obsession I hope we can see "The Frisco Kid" in the near future.
