Question blu-ray needs to add special features

The BDA needs movie studios to add special features that are worth buying for the PS3. I mean most people buying a PS3 don't have a hd tv so what is their incentive of buying a blu-ray disc over a regular dvd? Any ideas on how they can add something for the PS3 demographic that is just buying it for games and not movies?

Says who?

You really think that most people who are going to go out and buy a $500-$600 HD console at launch don't have HDTV's?

Why? Where are people getting this idea from?

I don't know about you, but I know plenty of people who have had the PS3 circled on their calendars for a long time as the day they finally break down and buy an HDTV to begin with, if they don't have one already. (The 360 had some of that going for it as well.)

I think both the 360 and Ps3 will, and do deserve major kudos for helping along HD adoption as a whole.

I'm helping a friend to get a HDTV. Since we don't have HD broadcasts here, the plan is:

1) Get the PS3 and a few reference BD movies.
2) Audition the TVs we've shortlisted.
3) Buy the best TV for the right price.

The PS3 would most probably be used for its BD playback, music and photo-slideshow capabilities and used like 10% of the HDTV's time. But it'll give the best video quality.

As far as special features are concerned, we have not yet fully seen the features of BD taken advantage of. BD-Java is about to be cracked next week. Patience.

Less than half of the video-gaming population currently has HDTVs. However, more gamers will start investing in them once they see the difference, and the prices start to come down more.

In all honest, HD Gaming looks WAY better then hd movies. HD flicks are hit/miss with transfers, codecs, blah blah. HD Gaming is gorgeous and UNCOMPRESSED. Try playing Gears Of War on a nice display, especially the jungle level when its raining. Ive never seen anything more impressive in my entire life. HD Gaming will drive sales of HDTV's more then HD movies IMO.

Ridge Racer 7 looks impressive. I also can't wait to see Final Fantasy 13 (the one with the pink-haired girl as the main character) on 1080p Full HD resolution.

Also, don't forget about upcoming Gran Turismo as well. That's gonna look insane on Blu-ray.
