Default IPOD Nano vs. Touch vs. Classic

Hello,

I am looking to get a new IPod for music purposes, mainly listening in the car. I currently have about 6GB of music, but will likely add a little more over time. I have set the 8GB mark set for my new IPOD, it will cover all my music and give me room to grow. With that in mind, how would you rate the 8GB nano vs. the 8GB touch for my needs?

I understand the touch has some extra features like wifi, and whatnot, but I'm not sure how much I'd use that. Like I said, I will mainly use it for music. The nano is a bit cheaper, but if the touch is alot better then I could spend the extra $$.

I have the iPod touch and it's the best iPod available by leaps and bounds. HOWEVER, you said you wouldn't really use the wifi and that you'd be using it only for music.... in that case the Nano would probably work just fine for you.

For car use I would recommend the nano because you don't have to look at it to operate it easily like you do the touch.

I actually have a 2GB nano right now and I do like the interface. I assume the 8GB is identical, just with more storage. It was a dumb decision getting the 2GB since I have 6GB worth of music, can't really explain why I did that. But anyway, thanks for the responses, I'm leaning towards the 8GB nano but if you think the touch is just mind blowing then I may reconsider.

I don't have the touch, rather the iPhone but if you don't plan to use the browser or any of the other features of the touch the nano is your ticket. I use the browser on my iPhone all the time and couldn't operate without it at this point.

I also use the browser on my touch... I actually hadn't expected it to be as useful as it is considering the size of the screen. I also really enjoy being able to download new songs wirelessly from the iTunes wifi store. I often am in the middile of a work out and remember a song I heard on the radio and can download it right away. I also like the email program that came with the January software update.

I'd also have to say get the Nano if you aren't going to use the browser or PDA functions. The Touch is basically the iPhone without the phone . . . so, if you don't need all that, save your money.

Just curious . . . if you're willing to spend $299 for the 8GB touch, and you're mostly using it for music in the car, why not get the 80GB Classic for $249? If you only have 6GB of music now, then that will give you plenty of room to expand, plus you can rip your CD's at a higher bitrate without having to worry about chewing up valuable space. Just my 2 cents.

No doubt on the classic. I use the 80gb classic in the car and also as a backup medium for my PC. I use the iPhone at work and anywhere else.

Default Ipod Classic

Anyone here have the new 80 GB IPod Classic? I was thinking of getting one, but want to make sure it's compatible with my 3.5mm cord first. I got a male to male 3.5 mm cable recently for my 2gb nano to use in the car. It wokrs great, but I just want to make sure this will work with the classic as well. Is the port on the classic the same? Will it work?

Let me know.

Thanks,
