Default What percentage of your current DVD collection do you plan on rebuying on Blu-ray?

I have been debating on rebuying all my DVDs on Blu-ray as they come out and not sure its worth it, especially when the Blu-ray is a slight upgrade if an upgrade at all.

Blu Ray is a huge jump in video and in most cases audio quality.

This has been asked earlier. To be honest, my strategy has changed since I voted on the other poll. I started voting that I was replacing ALL my DVDs, but since I have gotten rid of most of my DVD collection, I'm now only buying those that I just have to have in hi-def.

after watching some WB BDs and seeing the grainy picture, i.e Superman, I dont think its really worth it to replace the DVD if they are putting any effort into the transfer

Only my favourites. Would love to get T2 On Blu-ray but going to wait till they bring out a better disc. Even with the better PQ I think its a step down to my Ultimate edition with its three versions of the movie and all the extras.

Also need the Alien movies on Blu-ray!! Give me, give me, give me!!!

My collection consists of The Matrix 10 DVD boxset, Gattaca and StarTrek Nemesis (the last two were got for peanuts). I have three or four others that were given as presents.
I intend to replace The Matrix boxset obviously, Gattaca and eventually get the Trek Movies.

So, large percentage wise but never really had a large collection in the first place.

Just my absolute favourites if the Blu-Ray offers a significant enough upgrade over the dvd.

Only the movies I plan on re-watching, which means a small percentage.

Nice thread. Like it.

I can't give you a percentage but I can tell which one's i'll definitely purchase again for Blu:

Star Wars I-VI (Must Have on Blu!!!)
Transformers (2007)
Batman Begins
Indiana Jones Trilogy
Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
Pixar Collection (Especially The Incredibles and Monsters Inc.)

Shaun Of The Dead &
Hot Fuzz (Come on Universal... Go Blu!!!!!!!)

There may be more but they don't spring to mind at the moment.

I would say nearly 100%, but I don't have that many DVDs in the first place. Basically, if there's a blu version available, I'll replace it.

Of course, I do have a number of Paramount/Universal DVDs, as well as some TV show collections and stuff like that, which probably won't see the light of day in blu for some time.

Great question, if that includes TV shows it will be a lot since I own complte seasons of X-Files, Buffy, Angel and all the seasons of LOST (one is one blu now).
Cris owns 24, Seinfeld, Rome, Hawaii Five-O, M*A*S*H and Mission Impossible (old school)

So between the TV shows and movies if we replace all the ones we really like id say about 50%.

We will either give away those seasons away as gifts or exchange them at BB once they come out on blu.

i'll be replacing between 90 and 100% of my SDs. If it is in the 10 percent that isnt replaced it is because it really is a bad movie that I will probably never watch again.

prob 10%, which is 50 or so as I have over 500 SD's. The Rock and ConAir are the newest to get the upgrade

I will only replace certain titles. I have DVDs that look pretty damn good when upconverted. For example, I now have Black Hawk Down on standard DVD, plus the collector's edition on standard DVD, and now on Blu-Ray as well (3 copies of this movie total). But this is just one of the few exceptions I will make regarding upgrading my DVDs to BDs.
