Default $3000 and need a TV...help?

Hello, Ken here...posted 1x before and life happened so now I am back and have some time to address TV here in living room...

options:
panny 50" 1080p
sony xbr4 46"
samsung 4671
kuro 50"

I watch sports, movies and NO gaming or computer use. Have sony bd300 bluray in hands already. Light in room will not be an issue after trip to Lowes for some mini blinds for upper windows.
LCD's seem to draw my eye due to brightness while plasmas have great clarity to MY eye.

INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
-me

I'd consider the Panasonic or the Pioneer. Which models specifically are you looking at?

I would go with the XBR4 Sony....Circuit City has it for 2899.99 less 10% if you order online and pick up.

Good luck with your decision.

I would go with the Pioneer Kuro!!

If you want to save a little $$, I think the next best one is the Sony.

You really can not go wrong with any of them. What matters is how it looks to you.

they offer the panny with a antiglare coating which works pretty good at block light reflections. The pioneer and the sony can display 24f video. My personal prefference leans toward the pioneer it has a very nice picture and would put the panny as my second choice.

this issue is subjective.....you'll have guy's here kissing sony ass like it was made of chocolate. don't get me wrong sony makes good tv's, i just like samsung's better, especially the samsung 4671

get more for less, that's what you get with samsung. you're paying for brand recognition when you buy sony.

good luck in your quest.

Ohhh man, the Pioneer Kuro is breathtaking - but I'd personally prefer the 46XBR4 if I had the money.

Default yeah its killing me which one...

Talked with a sony rep and he said " the vibrant setting is for store sales use, dont use at home" This was on the xbr.
The samsung just glows like crazy with that picture in store.
The Panny 1080 is the 77u? with the a/r screen
The Kuro is 720p
That said...
all 4 need calibration and wondering the following:

Can an LCD be calibrated to get dark scenes to be more defined?
The Kuro (720p) on Bluray?? NO idea how clean it would be, input?
Will either plasma have that OMG when watching Bluray?

OMG= oh my gonads
thanks
sincerely

+1 And I've seen the 52" XBR4 on a good sale for about $3200.

I would definitely recommend that, but you should be able to get the 58" for a little more. I got the 58" (see my sig) for $3199.

Default The 50" Panny 1080p

..........is at Frys for 1899.99. This is the 77u not the 700u. More a/r on screen. I sit 8-10 feet so this size works fine. I do not see a $600 better PQ with the sony xbr personally.

This plasma does NOT do 24p but That is ok.
1080p plasma tv... 1899.99
Panny blu ray 329.99 less 20% = $264.00
tax etc..
bottomline______________
$ 2341.47

what ya think??

i have the Sony w3000. will be swapping soon for the Pioneer Kuro BUT, Panasonic are due to come out with there 08 plasmas that will give Kuro a run for its money with there 30k:1 contrast.

So if you want the very best i would say Kuro, or 08 Panasonic plasmas, followed by the sony high end LCDs

Kuro comes in 1080p as well but its expensive, price will go down when the new panasonic line up hits the market imho
