I guess we should expect the US release around September too.

Very excited for this and Rear Window.

It's only 50 bucks for the 4k set that already includes Vertigo and Rear Window. Why not just get that? Certainly when they're individually released, they'll probably be around 25 a piece. Seems silly to wait if you're very excited about them.

Probably the whole 'SteelBook' part.

Ah, it didn't reallly register to me that they were steelbook releases. That makes sense then, for the collectors.

There's a few reasons besides the steelbook. At the first batch, there was the whole Psycho wrong audio issue. There's also the sleeve packaging hate.

And in some places (like Canada) the complete set hasn't stuck with the price drop for long. Besides, Sunrise Records in Canada is selling the standard individual releases with discount, so it's not much more than the set's lowest price.

To be honest, I was expecting the set to have an even better price drop sooner, but it's stuck around CAD 90 for months. So it's worth going for the singles at CAD 18 each.

I may be in the minority, but I like to have individual cases for movies when possible. I bought these in a 4/44 sale:

Instead of this:

Cost me an extra $11 or so. Silly? Yeah probably, but it makes me happy. I'm planning on getting these ones separately as well.

I'm remembering some saying about a fool and his money. It may or may not apply to me.

No, not silly at all. In fact, I'm the exact opposite. In many cases, I've had the individual releases, but ended up buying the box set so that it takes up less space on my shelf. The Star Treks, Aliens, Jawses, off the top of my head. I literally already owned the individual releases, but bought the sets when they came out just to save some shelf space. Ha.
So we're basically 2 sides of the same coin.

I tried in vain to get a replacement disc for Psycho. Over the course of a few months, I sent numerous emails and was redirected by some of the parties, but nothing came of it, and I eventually gave up. I'll end up buying the individual Psycho release at some point just to swap the discs. What a crapshow that was.

I agree financially it makes more sense, but I prefer individual releases (not a fan of steelbooks though) when movies aren’t series. The other reason is Birds is one my bottom 3 Hitchcock films. I never liked it.

I like bundles, but I refuse to buy any set where the discs are housed in sleeves. I have no problem waiting for the individual releases because I know they'll come eventually. For other sets like BTTF, I imported from a country where they used actual plastic cases.

That poster includes major spoilers, and the more abstract shapes of the original is far more suited for the film, it's a better cover in my opinion.

US release date is September 7 for both the 4K regular release and the 4K Steelbook.

Fantastic. Now I hope these two sell tons so that they consider doing more Hitchcock releases beyond these 4.

Would love to see The Man Who Knew Too much 1956 and North By Northwest among others.
