***NEW OFFICIAL TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***

Finally! FINALLY! The much-requested-for Wes Craven horror/sci-fi favorite DEADLY FRIEND short circuits onto Blu-ray for the first time in time for Halloween!

Here are the early details we have at current time to share:

• National street date for North America (Region A) is Oct 12th.

• This will be presented as a Collector’s Edition and will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release.

The newly commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from artist Colin Murdoch. This art will be front-facing, and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.

• Extras will be announced on a later date, but we can confirm today that there will be a new HD transfer of the film (same runtime & content as the prior “Twisted Terror” DVD) and interview with actress Kristy Swanson!

A lonely teenage genius has two best friends: his remarkable robot and a beautiful girl next door. When tragedy strikes them both, he desperately tries to save them by pushing technology beyond its mortal limits into a terrifying new realm. I'm very curious as to whether Shout has managed to recover Craven's original cut of the film before the studio interfered.

I haven't watched this since WB put out that Twisted Terror DVD collection and I remember it being awful and ridiculous.

Which obviously means day one.

And honestly, I'm cool with a "light month". So many other titles are coming out on either blu or 4K this fall it'll give my wallet a bit of a break lol.

Been waiting a long time for this to finally hit Blu-ray. This is a film I caught on the USA channel one Saturday morning when I was a kid, and the ending always stood with me as one of the first times I was really upset with how a film ended. Really been wanting to revisit it.

Wouldn’t Deadly Friend also qualify as a cyborg in that case? Given that it doesn’t go homicidal until the robot gets Swansonned?
