USA Star Trek Deep Space Nine: The Complete Series not coming to Blu-ray for now

Update: Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. Someone reached out to Bullmoose, and confirmed that their listing was incorrectly listed. It was really for Star Trek The Original Series.

Is it finally happening? Bullmoose has a pre-order up for a Blu-ray release of Star Trek Deep Space Nine, releasing from Paramount. The pricing for the set does make you question whether this is for the complete series or not, so I will update the post when I have more info.

Quote:
A spin-off of `Star Trek: The Next Generation', `Deep Space Nine' is set on a space station orbiting the planet Bajor. This time, Commander Benjamin Sisko is in charge of a diverse crew. But unlike other `Star Trek' series, there's no USS Enterprise to help them. Sisko and the crew must fight off rival alien species who want control of Deep Space Nine because of its strategic position close to a wormhole, which allows speedy travel to the far reaches of space.

Insert "I have a bridge to sell.. " right here
It's showing a $92 MSRP there, which may not be accurate either, but I don't doubt that it's happening, no. Bullmoose has listed this as part of a larger wave of Paramount pre-orders, including a new DVD release of the series as well. They didn't just make it all up.. There's actually something wonky going on with the pricing. If you click a link on the page that shows other listings, it has the DVD release with an MSRP of $132.99, but then when you click over to the Blu-ray, and then back to that DVD listing, it drops to an MSRP of $75.99.

I’m getting the feeling that the release is the First Season, but labeled incorrectly.

I guess we'll see. I just think the pricing is probably incorrect.

Every time I see something about DS9 on Blu, I just think:

I desperately want this to be true, but I'll only believe it when it's officially announced. We've been here too many times before.

I'm tempted to preorder just in case it IS the complete series. Then I'd wonder if Bullmoose would honor that price. They usually do, but if it is indeed an error, who knows.

As I said in one of the other threads that were created saying this was coming out. I’ll believe it and buy it when I see it!

I haven't known Bullmoose to put up a preorder without some sort of rumblings about a release. If it was Amazon I'd dismiss it no question.

I think with DS9 especially, it's okay for people to be cynical about any pre-order listing. I'm positive the listings came direct from Paramount, as it's part of a larger wave of Paramount pre-orders. Now, did Bullmoose flub it up somehow? Is it for DVD only? Season one only? Pricing error?

Not to be cynical, but a lot of DVD sets released previously by CBS are being re-released under the ViacomCBS name, post-merger, and we haven't heard anything about a team of people remastering/rebuilding the series for HD like the TNG project.

I want this to be real, but rebuilding DS9 in HD like they did for TNG would be a major undertaking and the whole series certainly wouldn't be sold for $70 in that case.

So it might just be the first season only, or it might be the whole series on SD-BD, or the listing might be in error.

That's irrelevant. It's just a placeholder date.

considering thevulcanreporter is the only site to carry any news of a ds9 remaster and that article was pretty much shot down in the ds9 community months back, i unfortunately believe we'll see an AI community DS9 4k upscale 2.0 attempt before/if there are any real physical remaster blurays for DS9.

Bullmoose's reviews online seem good in rating, but there are too few to be fully trusted at this point. It's easy to manipulate under a 100 reviews for a site.

If DS9 were getting an actual legitimate bluray release, even 6-12 months from now, it would be pre-listed on amazon. So far, amazon has no such listing. we can continue to hope this series will someday get a bluray release, given how badly the physical media sales market has collapsed and how much a remaster for this series will cost, hope might be all we are going to get.

If you have an account it's very easy. I've never checked out as a guest so I can't say.
