2-1 is pretty good considering the bargain basement prices of HD-DVD, compared to the "no one will buy at those prices" Blu-ray players.

Still surprising to see the spike in HD-DVD players.

This will be good information, not to laugh at HD DVD like so many like to do but rather to see if Blu-ray is even catching on to the masses.

Is it really when you have every HD-DVDite remaining claiming that at the excellent prices they are going to buy a backup player?

Not that much of a spike - weekly sales didn't even recover to the level of the week before Warner went Blu.

Grubert, I think it would be great if you could follow the standalone sales along with the Nielsen disc sale ratios.

Of course, it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges because we don't know the actual disc sales (not to mention the PS3 effect).

Still, the fact that the 66:34 standalone ratio was matched by a 83:27 BD ratio in disc sales (down 2), and that Week 3 didn't have any specific blockbusters or BOGO sales, leads us to assume that the Toshiba fire sale didn't sell many more discs.

On the opposite, we can wonder how many Toshiba units were sold to households who already have at least one HD DVD player...

Grubert o' recent owner of a PS3,
You might consider putting all of the info in your FIRST post so that we can just click the thread to the very first post and see the info we need. Thanks for your work.

I don't know - I thought the tables would be easier to read if each one had its own post. But of course if the consensus says otherwise I'll rearrange it.

G, do you think we can count on this data being made available for future weeks?

Bill Hunt said that 'FYI, we will post the numbers for the second half of January as they become available, to track how sales of both formats are affected by the various recent sales and discounts.'

So it seems this will continue to be posted going forward.

It would be nice to be able to sell more than 22,625 stand alone BD players this week. That way we could say Blu-ray sold more in January then HD DVD did in December.

Does anyone release weekly PS3 sales? I expect there was a sharp bump after the Warner decision, but would love to see how much.

Unfortunately, Bill just posted in the Insiders Thread that NPD has asked him to stop posting the numbers and he will honor that request. He may comment on trends, but actual figures? Not any more.
