I think that's the International version which has been available for some time. The actual US version has been pushed back as far as I know. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I've never played either, but my girlfriend is also interested since trying out the vocals on Rock Band. She likes the fact that there is more R&B on the SingStar games.

We saw some videos of previous SingStar games though and she didn't much care for how the lyrics and note thing are somewhat seperated (at least compared to Rock Band's set up).

These games are a lot of fun in a group setting with alcohol. We have all 4 - Pop, Rocks, 80s, and Amped. There is more songs girls can sing in these from Rockband. My GF is just getting in Rockband but she prefers SingStar.

Singstar PS3 has been confirmed for a May (100% sure of the month..not so much on the day)..release date in the U.S...and yes 90s version will help hold us over till then..good stuff.

GDC 2008: SingStar Solo

During the GDC presentation "Voice of an Angel: Next-Gen Audio Processing and Effects for SingStar on PS3," Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Audio and Video Manager Dan Bardino showcased the ability to turn on and off a song's original vocal track.

Not sure if the European version already supports this but I know the lack of vocal removal was one of the big gripes with the PS2 versions.

It's not exactly the thing an older adult male should say, but *takes depth breath* I'm really excited about SingStar.

I had the chance to try the upcoming installment at a preview event. And, the reason that I feel it is inferior is because of the fact that there is no guidance during gameplay. That is, if your pitch is off then you don't realize it until it is far too late. 'Rock Band' handled the vocals properly by giving the player a continuous visual indicator as to exactly where you are on the scale. If you are too high you know it immediately and can correct with instant reflection. With 'Singstar' I was 4 words behind before I could catch up to the proper pitch.

Although the track list is much more recent and far more varied in style, the interface just is far too unattractive and inefficient for me. That's why I'm gonna steer well clear of purchasing it.

I haven't looked at the new SingStar tracklist, but the original was dreck. IMO, Kareoke Revolution Party for PS2 had better songs
