Warner Archive will be releasing Ziegfeld Girl (1941) on Blu-ray on June 7th.

During the 1920s, three New York girls pursue careers performing in the iconic Ziegfeld Follies. Susan (Judy Garland) is a vaudeville performer who desires nothing more than a shot at the big time. Sheila (Lana Turner), who works as an elevator girl, is granted an audition with Flo Ziegfeld himself. And Sandra (Hedy Lamarr) draws the eye of a dance director after her husband auditions for a position in the orchestra. However, their career ambitions soon complicate their romantic relationships.

Amazon just put a price drop on this and it is now $17.99. Is there a chance the other two Garland titles will get price drops too?

I finally got around to watching this tonight and it was not what I expected (in a good way.) I don't know if it was intended, but it seemed almost as if it was a deconstruction of The Great Ziegfeld, or just a Ziegfeld girl in general. I wasn't expecting it to be a lot darker than TGZ and touch on the subjects it did. The musical numbers didn't seem as big or elaborate as the previous film, but I still can't wait to see how it'll look in HD, especially Hedy's iconic dress.

I think I'll still wait to see if the price goes down any more in the next few months before getting it.

Ziegfeld Girl Blu-ray Review

Even though I already saw (great reviews) for The Pirate and The Harvey Girls elsewhere, I've been anticipating the reviews for them on here. I can't wait to see the reviews for For Me and My Gal, and especially The Clock!

I got an Amazon chat text from the Amazon delivery driver about my order (I just ordered The Clock so far.) They mentioned the system saying that the order was late and needed to ask if I still wanted my package. I obviously said yes and got my package. It was weird and a first time thing from Amazon for me.

Maybe there's been a glitch with the system today that screwed it up? I'm sorry you didn't get your order. I'd be bummed out too.
