Singulus sees 2008 blu-ray machine deliveries higher than expected

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Singulus Technologies AG's chief executive Stefan Baustert said that the 'chance has significantly increased that we will deliver more than the previously planned 15 blu-ray machines in 2008', Euro am Sonntag reported.

He also said it is probable that the company will this year reach a worldwide market share in the production of blu-ray machines of about two-thirds.

Last month, Time Warner (nyse: TWX - news - people ) Inc unit Warner Bros Entertainment's decided to release its high-definition DVD titles exclusively in the blu-ray disc format rather than in HD DVD, sparking hopes for growing demand for Singulus' products.

The German company last week also took over Swiss company OC Oerlikon Corporation AG's blu-ray business for an undisclosed sum.

'The takeover, including blu-ray patents, is low priced from our perspective,' Baustert said.
