Lightbulb One to One: Singulus says if replicators can produce DVD-9s, they can do BD-50s

http://oto-online.com/index.php?opti...=747&Itemid=49

Quote:
"The Hollywood studios are pushing for a format with the 50GB capacity that dual layer BD provides," Sylvia Hitzel, Singulus vice president of marketing and sales, told One to One. "Not everyone has seen a dual layer machine before and our launch will both explain the technology and demonstrate that any replicator has the capability of manufacturing this format. It is more complicated than DVD, but if someone can produce DVD-9, then they are certainly able to produce BD50 with the right technology and support."
Singulus will be showing off the new Blu-line II replicators at an event later this month (Feb 27-28) at their HQ in Kahl, Germany.

I'm sure all Blu-ray Disc replication experts will be invited.

This is significant news, and will go a long way towards dispersing some of the FUD from the red camp. Thanks Doby!

It sounds to me more like "don't be scared of BD50's. We have the machines to make them for you. They are a lot like making DVD9's, since they are both dual layered, but BD50's require our new replicators."

However, the post title makes it seems like DVD9 replicators can produce BD50's.

This is expected that they would be making new BD50 replicators. Maybe they are emphasizing the ease of operating one of them. It's good news regardless.

Actually, looks like they offer technology to upgrade your DVD9 replicator to produce BD50s
