Default Onkyo 605 Video Out HELP!!!

I purchased the Onkyo 605 over the weekend & everything works wonderful, but I can't get the component Video In to display on my TV via the HDMI out, The 2 hdmi In sources(directv & PS3) display perfectly, but the source I have going into the receiver via Component in isn't being displayed the audio is going through via optical, but no picture, I've read through the manual several times with no result....I have HDMI monitor out setting to YES, the 2 hdmi in's are set(& work), I have the component in1 set to Game/TV but it won't display on my tv through the hdmi, any suggestions?? Also I can't get any music I play through my PS3 to use the sub-woofer, games & blu-ray's use it great! so any help on that would be appreciated as well

Oops missed the part where you had the HDMI on...

As for sound, when playing CD's on the PS3, for some reason it only transmits Multichannel through HDMI. If you want access to the PLX settings on the receiver you need to run an optical cable and mess with the settings... quite an annoyance

Make sure HDMI Monitor is set to on. This automatically sets the composite, S-Video, and component video sources all to be upconverted to HDMI.

Then you need to assign a component input just like you did with the HDMI inputs. On my 805 the DVD input selector is assigned to the component input 1 by default.

Make sure you did all of the above correctly. After that I don't know what to tell you.

As for the subwoofer, you need to run the auto calibration and make sure it recognizes the sub. Even if you can hear it, the microphone sometimes has a hard time picking up the low sounds from the sub. Once you do the calibration go into the menu to "Speaker Config" and set Subfoofer to YES if it's not already. Then try outputting sound using the Stereo mode and if hooked up correctly it should work.

***All of this I did from the Onkyo 805 setup so it should be similar but MAY NOT BE***

I guess the first thing we would need to do is ensure that all the settings are copasetic..

Input/Ouput Assign>Component Video Input>Game/TV -input1
Input/Output Assign>Digital Input>Game/TV -Opt 1

What do you have your "HDMI Input" set to? Is it:

CBL/SAT = HDMI IN 1 (for your DirectTV)
DVD = HDMI IN 2 (for your PS3)

Then, under "Component Video Input", do you have:

GAME/TV = IN 1

So, when you select the source on the 605 to "GAME/TV", nothing shows up on the TV, but when you select CBL/SAT, you get DirectTV and when you select DVD, you get the PS3?

Have you tried to put use the Compnent Video IN2 and set it in the set up as a test?

May sound silly but what is the extra component you are trying to hook up? Is it something that maybe was hooked up via HDMI previously and needs a setting changed to Component? I'm racking my brain here and may come up with other odd questions so I hope you're willing to indulge me.

No it's an XBOX360 so no HDMI output is even available, & when I hook it up directly to my tv VIA Component it works fine just as it has for over a year now, but I'd like to have everything run through my reciever.

P.S.- What's the difference between DolbyTrueHD & PCM? is there a difference or is trueHD already uncompressed?

Simplified, DTSHD-MA, TrueHD and PCM should all be the same as the Master audio file. The PS3 takes the TrueHD signal, transcodes it into PCM and sends it out via HDMI to your receiver.

Input 1 is defaulted to DVD (marked as such on the back panel), and you did physically change the input to input 2 and change the settings... I'm really surprised that didn't fix it.

Now I'm blindly stabbing here... When I had video display issues with my dad's setup the Green and Blue were reversed causing nothing to show on the screen.

yeah tried that & my blue & green are in the right inputs, I'm stumped maybe I got a bad receiver not sure if I'd want to exchange it though(have to unhook everything & box it up) might not be worth the trouble, does it make a big difference having the component output being displayed via hdmi?

No, just makes it easier to have 1 input in use on the tv. There shouldn't be a difference in what you see. I PM'd audio guru Crackinhedz and asked him to check in and see if he can help.

Default about the sound

I used to own the onkyo 600 which did not have the auto calibration, but I have sold many recievers that did and my denon does as well and I do not recommend this. It does a decent job but if your picky like myself don't do it or if you do set it up initially with the mic but then adjust by ear from there.

Did you read post 12. It sounds like your source is the problem. Try running component from one of your other hdmi sources. If it works then the problem is not your receiver.
