Default Is Toshiba still manufacturing new HD DVD players?

If this has already been asked and answered please forgive me for asking again. Anyway, does anyone know if Toshiba is still actually manufacturing any HD players or are they just hoping to get rid of all that were already built?

With returns at an all time high it's hard to imagine what To-SHIT-ba has in mind.

I find it difficult to believe that Toshiba will completely discontinue all hddvd production in the near future-way too much money dumped into r&d. More likely, I would bet, is that they would switch over to a dual player, unless there is some deal struck with blu-ray.

They actually don't need to make more when they're getting so many of them back, which they just re-circulate into the market.

Why would they need to be presently manufacturing them? Where would they store them all?

They shouldn't make more.

Just try to get some of the existing stuff sold to anyone who would buy it.

Best Buy already has them in the sales flyer as DVD Up-converters which also play HD DVD.

I'll bet a nickel there is no 4th gen players planed. It's just about tying to move existing product now.

I'm sure production has at least scaled back drastically. Toshiba doesn't want to be stuck with warehouses of these things WHEN retailers stop carrying HD DVD hardware.

I was thinkin' (and about to post) exactly the same thing (wish I posted that though).

Can someone make a photo where all the HD DVD players ar in the landfill and if possible, next to the ET cartrages (or better yet, can someone do that scene in the Simpsons when Homer is in the dump before he gets attacked by the bear, can someone make somethin' about when Homer is walking past the beta tapes, the laserdiscs and the spot where it said "reserved for DVD's"? Can anyone think of somethin').

That's a great idea, don't forget 3m (Scotch) either (or which ever tape they use).

Given Toshiba's tactics and seeming desire to not give up and continue to lose millions, I could see them release a "new" 4th generation player which would essentially be a rebadged 3 gen unit. However, I could see them dropping the other two models and just stick with one. I mean the idiotic red ants would eat this up to add a second, third, or fourth player. We'd see it go on for pages and pages at AVS about how strong HD DVD is.

Does anyone really think Toshiba will stop making HD DVD capable players?

It'll just be another disc format supported by their what will become their next line of "upconverters".

I think Toshiba is going to stop making HD Dead players. They are just putting on a show right now to move inventory. I highly doubt another gen HD Dead player is going to be released unless their next brainstorm is to make a dual-format player and list the HD Dead piece of it as "gen 4".
