Occasionally when I play a game or load anything from the PS3 my screen will be off-center when the application loads. If I hit the PS button I will notice that the white lines in the menu get cut off to the left and there is some black space to the side.
I don't know what could be causing this.. It's been happening for a few months now. It's random, and to fix it I simply exit the game and load it again. I have an HDMI to my receiver, and then my reciever HDMI to my TV. Anyone experience this? |

Is the PS3 the only thing hooked up to your TV? If not, does it do it when using one of your other devices or watching TV?
As for games, a lot of the games have options to center the screen. |

Yeah-- PS3 is the only device I use. I just got rid of cable on that TV. But the thing is it's not constant.. it's random and only lasts while I'm in a game.
And it's definitely not about just centering the screen. The whole image is shited about 4-5 inches to the right and everything is off-center. I know it happens when my tv is switching resolutions when loading the game. Is this a TV problem or a receiver? I guess the best bet would be to plug directly into my TV and keep at it to see if I can reproduce it. Though, I'm gonna say I think it IS a TV problem. |

![]() ![]() (not that you don't know how to do this but just incase) _ 480p _ 720p _ 1080i _ 1080p all with check boxes next to them, if your set is 720 max uncheck 480 and 1080i leaving only one resolution (your max) checked off then finish the setup and see if this helps. Also I would try to connect the PS3 directly to the TV rather then through another device as that may be re-producing the PS3's signal wrong at times. Best of luck! |

Thanks for the info guys. I have a Samsung HL-S5687W-- 1080p TV.
If I set the TV to 1080p only, it will stretch some games out though, won't it? Also-- I would go directly to the TV, but my 7.1 is connected through my receiver.. So I wouldn't be able to get audio if I went straight to the TV. |

The problem is a combination of receiver and/or TV not properly changing the resolution when they are told to. Depending on your receiver model, you may be able to change its scaling settings that may fix the problem (try both no scaling (sending out what the PS3 sends it) and 1080p output to see if one option or the other fixes the problem. |

I have the Yamaha RX-V661.. I've played around with it a good amount and I am pretty positive there is no scaling option. Hmm..
I don't recall this happening a year ago... So I thought it was something that started happening. Is this just a matter of my receiver/TV combo, or could this be a defect in the equipment? If so, I want to get it repaired while they're still under warranty. |
