Default Panasonic TH-58PZ750U question

So, I finally got my dream TV, and midway through the second movie I noticed a vertical line down the screen where there was a noticable difference in the color level from one side of the screen the other. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal for the first part of the breakin period? What do you think?

It's not normal. try different sources, cables, etc. before panicking.

As the other posters said, unplug it and check the different sources.

If it's still there, contact the store you bought it from and exchange it.

I remember reading on AVS that its a video board problem that usually happens very early in the TVs lifetime.

I called Panasonic. Man, the lady there at customer service was rude! She did end up setting up an appointment for me to have a repairman come fix my TV. She said that they WILL NOT replace the TV no matter what, that it can be repaired. We all know that guarantee cannot be made. I contacted Vann's. They were much easier to deal with and gave me an extension on the return police so that if it cannot be repaired by the Panasonic representative that they will get me a replacement. Why are most people in customer service so rude these days? What ever happened to "the customer is always right?" What happened to standing behind your product? I think that Panasonic makes a desent product, but with customer service like that I'll think twice about buying from them again. The rep at Vann's said they have even had trouble dealing with Panasonic.

It's just laziness.

The rep was probably surfing the web or taking a nap and got pissed that they actually had to work.

I have the identical TV.

I love it. The problem you described does not happen on my set.

Must be a defect.

I have my color settings at Standard instead of Vivid.

Ya. There is definitely something wrong with the left half of my screen. It looks like it's more pixilated, a lighter shade of color, the contrast isn't as sharp, and when turn on the bluray player, parts of the screen look like water between 2 panes of glass that are mashed together, like in science class, almost like there is a sparation somewhere in there. I can see it on the green "Preview" screens too. I'll have to wait until the 18th to see if they can repair it, if not Vann's said they will replace it for me. Eventually, I think the issue will be resolved...but rude people suck.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble. Even if the support has turned you off, you will definitely enjoy the set in the end.

Hang in there. My set is like heaven on earth. You will see once you get a repair or replacement.

Hope you get a replacement!

I didn't. According to CNET and Consumer Reports, the only better TV is the Pioneer.

TV repair man is coming tomorrow to fix the TV. He says the tech guys at Panasonic say "the half screen thing is usually one of two boards." Seems like I heard that somewhere before.

Thanks

Repair man came, replaced one of the boards. I'll watch some movies tonight to see what's up, but for now it looks like it's fixed.
