I'm a bit surprised that, although we just got a blu of this from Paramount, we're getting a boutique 4K. I'm all for it though.

Took forever for this to come out on blu-ray over here, and now only a little over a year after it finally hit blu-ray we get a UHD announcement. Crazy.

Definitely picking it up though. It's is a great film.

Finney is certainly the quirkiest M. Poirot; I love his puckish laugh, wry sense of humor, penetrating gaze, and little French (Belgian!) mumblings. The scene early on with him and silly ass officer Jeremy Lioyd is a highlight for me.

There's no way the appalling 2017 Studio Canal BD is a 4K remaster, or from the negative. It looks truly wretched against the Paramount BD, which simply uses an old DVD-era HD master.

I always thought the negative for this was in the UK, but someone corrected me when the Paramount BD came out. Apparently Paramount holds the negative, here in the US.

I believe Studio Canal's BDs of Death on the Nile, Evil Under the Sun and The Mirror Crack'd are real remasters, I have no idea what sources they used, but I think people said they were done at 2K. Kino Lorber licensed the SC remasters of Death and Mirror, but used an older master for Evil, for some reason.

The 2017 SC BD has really bad crushed blacks, a weird blue tint, and was super pixely when compared to the Paramount BD.
