PS3 Ugly?

Hello everyone, so far ive been enjoying my PS3 since october. i have the 80gb model. i bought the unit mostly for blue ray playback but now im also enjoying being able to stream pictures video clips and music through my PC. i think its a fantastic unit im enjoying it a lot.

my only beef is i find the unit ugly as i have it in my entertainment center.
I think it would be awesome if they made a unit that resembles a regular blue ray dvd player or a model for us people who want something that looks good with my other equipment. I also find the unit to be a dust magnet with its gloss black finish.

I think the existing models were designed to stand beside modern HDTV's with the unit stood vertically and PLAYSTATION 3 logo showing forward.

Horizontal, placed with AV equipment, hi-fi seperates or whatever it's not going to look so elegant. I can't imagine they have plans for a visual redesign until a slimline version is released which wouldn't be any time soon. Even then I doubt they'll go for an all-matte, boxy overall shape.

I love the PS3 look. It's nice that it stands out for me, that's the way I'd want it to be. Matches everything in my unit down to the shade of blue the light is.

I think you may be pretty much alone on this one, almost everyone considers the PS3 to be by far the best looking console and even better looking piece of electronics in general.

Ugly?! How?? The PS3 is so sleek lookin. I love the way it looks. The shiny black gloss with the chrome trim, ahhh! And I 2nd the comment about the 360 and Wii looking wayyyy worse and cheap. I can see if you think the white PS3 is ugly or the one they sold without the chrome trim, but come onnn! haha

I'd actually be VERY interested in replacing my black PS3 with a white one. As I said before I want my PS3 to stand out a lot in my home theater (I even took it out of the entertainment unit so it'd get a front seat).

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps optimize it for media and call it a Mediastation 3 (PS3 compatible).

That's why I did not buy one... I just couldn't stand looking at a games console.

i'm curious as to why anyone notices the units sitting in the entertainment center's. tv's look so bad you notice the stuff around it?

make it more energy efficient and quieter and i'll be happy
