Default Onkyo 605 or Pioneer Vsx-90txv

I am thinking of upgrading my recieving and just wondering which is a better buy. Really looking to get true hd and the THX certification would just be a plus. Just asking for a little input. I found both recievers online for under $500 dollars. Both receivers only having two hmdi inputs is no big deal since my current reciever has the same amount.

I own the Onkyo 605 and I used to own the Pioneer vsx-80txv. I like the build quality of the Pioneers. Also, the pio did not run as hot as the 605. I dunno if the 90TXV runs hot though. If I had to choose, I would go with the Pioneer.

But a few things that I would make sure the pio has is Dolby True HD and DTS-HD MA and also the ability to passthrough a 1080p 24hz signal as I would like to upgrade to a TV that also can do that. I dunno if the Onkyo can do that but I'm under the impression that it cannot.

I would go with the 605 because I don't think the Pioneer 90TX processes multi-channel PCM where as the 605 will and it has the updated audio codecs as well.

yeah, Pioneer Elite has to be 91 or higher.

Id go with the onkyo 605 over the Elite 90.

I would go with the pioneer over 605. I know the onkyo is not THX certified not sure of the pioneer.
just looked them up the pioneer is THX certified but does not do the new audio codecs. But if your using the ps3 as a bluray player it dosent bitstream the new codecs and not sure if it will ever.
