Default Pioneer Elite VSX-90TXV - Should I keep it?

Thanks to everyone so far for your advice on my receiver upgrade. With your help, I made the decision to get the Pioneer VSX-1018...I went out to Best Buy to take a look at it (not to buy it) and the Magnolia room had a Pioneer Elite VSX-90TXV on clearance for $299. They only had 1 left, so I couldn't pass it up. Now I'm wondering if I should keep it or take it back and spend an extra $120 on the 1018.

Anyone know what I'll be missing out on? I have a PS3 so the decoders shouldn't be an issue...and I only have 1 HDMI device right now and really only planning on having one more (my cable box doesn't support HDMI yet). The one real question I have is the HDMI switching...will I lose any PQ? If it is going to be a solid upgrade from my HK AVR435 and last me a few years, it would be nice to take the $120 I saved and put it into upgrading my speakers.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Take it back and spend the $120 more, because i think you be missing out on the HD sound

Thanks, Blutrig...I ended up doing just that. I'm just waiting for my 1018 to arrive now!

I cannot answer this exactly, but if it would process multi-channel PCM (LPCM) and your BDP would internally decode the audio, then I would have kept it. It is a better receiver. I wouldn't sacrifice a better receiver just so I could see DD THD or DTS HD MA light up on the screen. IMO

callas - I did a lot of reading on the receiver after I bought it and everything I read said that the HDMI on this receiver was only video pass through...meaning the only way to hook up audio was via optical (with the PS3). Since I have the PS3, I won't be able to see DD THD or DTS HD MA at all regardless, right?
