Interesting that the Xbox version is on 3 discs whereas PS5 is on two. iirc Xbox consoles can't use UHDs for games to maintain compatibility with Xbox One, but I'd have thought the rules would be different for a Series S/X exclusive game.

Yup, Xbox is 4-discs now because MS didn’t do BD100 discs and the reason physical edition for all platforms got delayed. I got an email about that from Larian. The PS5 release is still on 2X BD100 discs.

Yeah, it is taking a long time, but they did update their store listing recently.

Console editions (waves #1 and #2) expected to begin shipping between April and May."

Tried finally pulling the trigger on the PS5 version. Sadly, they don't ship to PR (customer service confirmed when I emailed them).

I ended up getting a bit bored with this game anyhow, combat not very interesting or tactical and the graphics aren’t anything special. Like many modern games, most of the money went into making cutscenes. Admittedly the cutscenes do have really excellent graphics, thing is I don’t really need cutscenes. A intro and victory cutscene is all I really need from dungeon and dragon type games. Also, could care less about romance options with a computer program, LOL, just give me the classic D & D experience, combat, character building, and loot.

Also, this world is so non-open world. There are very, very few shops, very few characters you meet outside of your party, and extremely limited dialogue trees.

Interesting. I'm the opposite. Most so-called RPGs don't thrill me since they are mostly combat/loot with little in the way of allowing me to influence the story. I tend to think of such games as action games with some RPG elements tacked on. Even the Final Fantasy series is guilty of this (which is probably why I didn't find FF16 to be a jarring departure). This is why I view the underrated Alpha Protocol to be a true RPG, given just how much you can influence the characters, story, and ending. I was hoping for much the same, albeit with more polish, from Baldur's Gate III. If that's not the case, I guess it's okay I wasn't able to order the deluxe edition.

Puerto Rico? If you were willing to trust me, you could ship to my address (or any other friend you might have in the US)and then I could ship to you (at your cost for shipping of course). It'd be a substantial investment though, the game is 100 bucks from the store, plus whatever shipping to PR is from the mainland US.

Another option, I believe Japan got a standard PS5 physical release. You might be able to import one of those?

Edit: there are some negatives with a JP copy, it has censoring and will limit what you can do playing the game with others.

Shipping to PR isn't all that pricey. In fact, it's the same as if shipping to the Continental US, which is why it irks me whenever a company refuses to ship here.

I was going to ship it to a relative in the States, but opted to do the same with a new pair of speakers instead. Sure, I could do both but I don't feel comfortable with the fact he'd have to buy the game himself (not that he'd mind) because I can't even order the game because the site doesn't even allow billing addresses from PR.

Be aware that if you order this, you may not get it for quite some time. I preordered the PS5 version back in early December and I still have not received it. I recently emailed Larian about the order and all they told me was “you’ll receive an email once it ship”. Gee, thanks for that informative reply.
They claim pre-orders started shipping in April and May in two waves and some people in the very first wave of orders received it. I’m in the 2nd wave of orders I think. Possibly even after that. Who knows. I can’t get any clarification from Larian.

I could be wrong on this, but I think because of the multiple delays in shipping the PS5 version, it doesn't matter much anymore what wave you were in. My most recent communication from them was an expectation that we may get it in July.

Also, don't count on Larian emailing you when they ship it. Pretty much all the feedback from other forums I've read, it'll just show up on your door one day with no communication.

While I'm thankful Larian put the effort into creating this cool physical edition, they've definitely got room for improvement if they ever do this sort of thing again

Edit: This is specifically what I received from them on June 12th.

Hello,

While we’re delighted that many of you are now receiving your physical Deluxe Edition copies of Baldur’s Gate 3, we know that some of you are waiting for a shipping update.

We’re happy to confirm that North American PlayStation 5 orders will begin shipping to customers this week, for an early July delivery date.

If you pre-ordered an Oceania version and haven’t yet received any shipping information, please keep an eye on your inbox for your tracking email over the next few days.

We again apologise for the delay, some of the complexities of physical shipping caused issues beyond our control, but we’re confident that everyone should have their physical Deluxe Edition within July, and we’re looking forward to hearing the stories of your adventures.

Thank you!

Oh wow, thanks for sharing that email. I never received it so I was still going off their April/May shipping info. I guess we’ll just keep waiting until sometime in July.

Yeah, I agree their customer service response is really lacking.

I had my Balder’s Gate 3 physical deluxe weeks ago. Sorry to hear the US has been shafted in this regard but sounds like July is the lucky month.

I haven’t played it yet but there’s lots of goodies in the box and I have a big box to show off on the shelf to visitors to wonder tf that is and why i got it.
