I love Andrew’s work. Pledged for the Platinum Pack. Thanks for giving us this opportunity to purchase.

Thanks everyone who has already backed us - it's much appreciated.

This is quite a different one for us, and a bit of a test to see if licensing indie/lesser known films could be viable, or as viable as any of this is. My earlier involvement with the film has made it easier to license, as we're not committed to delivering any guaranteed minimum return. We're still learning what is viable and what people want as we go along - I certainly wasn't as aware of the enthusiasm for slipcovers as I am now!

The other great thing here is we're actually working with the film's director, this appears to lend the conversion more integrity in some viewers opinions. The upside of this relationship means we've also been able to secure a brand new, natively shot 3D bonus featurette looking back at the film as well as a brand new commentary track from David Barras (Director) and Scot Mackay (co-writer). Both fabulous additions to the overall package.

And we've produced a mini-replica of the comic book which I think looks amazing! Oh and of course there's the obligatory slipcover! Plus more goodies.

Thanks for looking and if you haven't already please do consider giving us your backing.

I'm ordering this one out of curiosity and to support future releases (these conversions beat the hell out of autoconversions) but I imagine the numbers will suggest the best approach is to concentrate on popular genre titles while the AI conversion process continues to be improved to reduce the amount of errors and "something doesn't look quite right" type shots. Once that's done the strength of the conversion should sell anything.

Want to make a pledge but when entering my password I got a warning the Kickstarter website had been compromised and to change it. Am concerned because this could mean unlocking credit card information.

I've never had a problem with Kickstarter.

Are you sure it's not warning that your password is compromised? Like if you use iCloud Keychain to store passwords any time you log into anything with a saved password it checks if that password has ever been in a data leak. If it has it warns about a compromised password. In those cases there's no issue with the web site, it just means you should log in and change your password pronto!

Hi Random,

Could have been. However logged in with Facebook so no problem and happy to have now made my pledge.

Put my money down for the slipcover. Their past releases have been very interesting. Glad to hear the director is involved and always excited for more from AIPOP!

Your grandkids must be mighty talented making films that can reach BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards) nomination level. I wish I was that talented!

In all seriousness though we've poured a lot of time and effort into this conversion and will have to rethink how else we can approach conversions without taking such massive risks if we struggle to get the 3D community support.

It appears that spending 6 months doing a conversion, then trying to sell it may be the wrong approach. One alternative is running the Kickstarter to raise funds and check the market is sufficiently strong, then only delivering the film 9-12 months down the line. I'm not sure how everyone will feel about that. Very tough market.

A lot will depend on the individual film. This one was always going to be a very hard sell. House on Haunted Hill was always going to be an easy sell and has gone down a storm. It's been voted the third best 3D Blu-ray of last year, beating out native 3D titles. Last Man on Earth is also going to get funded very quickly, there's little risk with Vincent Price titles and even less with ones that have no official UK Blu-ray release.

One thing to consider is that it seems like 3-D movies have slipped back to the independent guys more. In other words, we're moving back into the same sort of period as the 60s and 70s (hopefully without so much porn) and the 90s and early 2000s where the smaller guys are keeping the 3D lights on waiting for the next boom. So it kinda behooves 3D fans to support whatever they can.

These guys, Phil West, Variety Films and (of course) the 3DFA are what's keeping 3D alive much more than Hollywood right now.

I hope it's okay I'm sharing this original trailer in 2D again just so people can get a better feel for the film - I think some may be misunderstanding and thinking it's an animated film.

It tells the story of comic store owners who come across a super rare comic and then they are embroiled in a comedy caper as a cast of crooks tries to get hold of this valuable item.

Crazy choice of movie to go for so early in the series, it was never going to sell. Hopefully the series continues though, maybe this can be put out years down the line and all the work won't have gone to waste. Once people have seventeen of these discs perhaps they will be more likely to chuck £20 at this just out of habit!

Just like those who have backed this, I am voting with my wallet here by NOT backing it. IMO, it looks like a poor movie and 3D isn't going to make it watchable. [I'm one of those nutters that puts watchability top of my list when buying discs and doesn't care much about slipcovers. ]

To think we could be a month away from a 3D release of Last Man on Earth or Carnival of Souls but instead...

Same feeling here, unfortunately. If the movie is any good then the trailer has a really hard time showing it. I'll wait for Last Man on Earth.
