Why is there another version coming out and what will it have that the first version doesn't have. Mainly i want to know if it is going to be worth my money to get the unrated version.

The original BD release of AVP has Seemless branching with the Rated and Unrated versions on the same disc.

It has a digital copy - isn't that where you can put a copy of the movie onto your psp?

I was wondering what a digital copy was also, or if the game on the unrated version is any good?

a digital copy is something you can copy onto your computer then put it on your Ipod or zume, etc. etc.
Dunno about the game. However my opinion of the unrated version of AVP is that ... actually the version in theaters seems better in my opinion. For some reason the unrated version seems more mixed matched for some strange reason. There is some added blood but it was just added in and looks awful. |

I know this has been discussed before, but I'm hoping a few techies could fill me in on this. I just watched this now, and IMO I'd give the transfer a hesitant 3 at best. Some scenes were good, and some were bad--the fluctuation was quite distracting. Yes, detail was there but how do you explain the abundance of grain/noise in the picture? I know grain is a inherent part of film, but there seemed to be unintended noise too.
But do you honestly think this is the best it can look? Maybe another codec would've been better? |

Hopefully they remaster it for the new one coming out when AVP:R gets releaased, I too was also dissapointed with the transfer.

I seen AVP in theaters. I bought it at full retail when it first came available on DVD. I just bought it on Blu-ray a few months ago. It would really bite having to sell it off and buy the newest version once more. I would much rather have Fox release the Alien or Predator series instead. Maybe in a few years but right now with BD's total release amount being low compared to DVD? No... Let's face the facts, a great deal of Fox titles have somewhat disappointing PQ. If Fox redid those, we would be screwing ourself out of many great upcoming/unannounced titles that are just waiting in their vaults! Remember, Fox pumps out an average of 4 or so titles a month. Do we really need them delaying all the great upcoming & catalog titles over this? I would take True Lies, ID4, I Robot anyday over a AVP remaster. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for top quality releases! Trust me, I Love Fox movies.. They ARE getting much better in the quality control department but they seem to favor minimum effert, features, gobs of copy protection and always want top dollar. At least they always deliver the goods in the audio department. I wouldn't doubt it if DTS pays them to release DTS-HD MA audio on every movie. I bet they are making a killing off each Blu-ray sold to ![]() Rest assured, a re-release will come it time... They gave us featureless releases for the soul intent of double dipping. NOT bashing, just being realistic... Last edited by saginawjuggalo; 02-16-2008 at 05:08 AM. |

if they did upgrade it they would call it a collector's edition or something like that like how Warner is doing with the titles that had crappy audio like A Christmas Story and bringing out Hd-dvd only titles like Batman Begins and calling it a collector's edition. it will be in that same concept if they did reissue the AVP1 on Blu-Ray

I've completely lost all hope of the Alien or Predator franchises on high-def. I mean, in some scenes AVP--which was made in 2004--looked like a ten or fifteen year-old film! And some scenes popped up and showed the wonder high-def was capable of. But, if that was the best they could do I can only wonder what Alien/Aliens/Predator would look like. Specially, Aliens would look quite horrible. The standard was grainy enough, shot on super 35, do I even need to think about how it would look on high-def?

Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me but I thought the pq was very good, but then I have a great tv to view on. Most of the movie is in the dark so what do you expect. Daylight or bright scenes always look better, well usually.
