Default Warner Bros A-List Survey

https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/m...ts/020524-1600

Quote:
Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has been polling members of their A-List email newsletter for their interest in which catalog films people might like to see remastered for release in 4K Ultra HD.

Among the titles polled are:
  • Blade II and III (2002-04)
  • Caddyshack (1980)
  • the Conjuring films (2012-2021)
  • Dances with Wolves (1990)
  • Dirty Harry (1971)
  • Friday (1995)
  • the Lethal Weapon films (1987-98)
  • the Nightmare on Elm Street films (1984-2010)
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)
  • the Terminator films (1984-2009)
  • Outlaw Josie Wales
  • Pale Rider
  • Bridges of Madison County
  • Interview with a Vampire
  • Eyes Wide Shut
  • Dog Day Afternoon
  • Constantine
I'd be all over Lethal Weapon, Nightmare's and....Terminator? Since when does WB own the first?

Dirty Harry and Cuckoo's Nest are long overdue for new transfers. Those would be my picks.

And why isn't there a 4K of Twister with that German Atmos mix?

I don’t know how bad the BDs are for any of these as I don’t own any.

I would love to have on 4k:

Caddyshack
Friday
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

I wouldn’t mind Terminator and Lethal Weapon films in 4k either!

Hell, just give us all of them haha!

All of them please! STAT! I'm happy to buy them as part of "Columbia Classics" style collection as long as there are no previously released titles included in the set, because that would be playin' dirty!

What else is on the list?

Very likely these are all being planned for eventual release, with the survey being more about prioritizing. IIRC all titles on the survey from a few years ago eventually got released.

Interesting to see the MGM titles on there now, and that Dances with Wolves and The Terminator are now basically confirmed as titles that MGM won't license to 3rd party labels for 4K UHD. (WB is MGM's distributor, so not a 3rd party label in the same sense). The Terminator makes sense, like Rocky, but DWW is a bit of a surprise since they licensed it to Shout on BD. Probably helps that Warner has international rights.

I'd be interested in every single one, except for Blade Trinity...

But if getting Blade II on 4K means I have to take Blade Trinity as well in a combo pack, then I'll do my part and soldier up.

I’d add All The President’s Men

The fact that Elm Street is on their list… means they obviously have not licensed the series out to anyone.

That’s just sad

They *could* keep the first film and then license the sequels to Shout. I doubt Warner would bother with 4Ks of any but the original film, even though the survey includes them (and the remake).

Similar to how I can't see Terminator: Salvation being released by them on UHD even though it's covered in the survey apparently.

Almost every single one of these would be great. Eyes Wide Shut, Dances With Wolves and the Eastwood films in particular. Blade III I would not even consider upgrading, though.

These surveys are not usually meaningful whatsoever. I used to be part of the community and would get these kinds of surveys all the time and they never really translated into releases. That's not to say none of these titles won't ever come out, but the surveys themselves are more for community engagement than actual product/marketing research.
