Question memento, worth it? (PQ & SQ)

i love memento (one of my all time favourites) ...but here in canada it is SOO expensive and difficult to find

i own the special edition DVD version and was just wondering whether or not i should upgrade to the blu ray version

extras dont interest me at all and i already like the movie so...i would just like some responses based purely on PQ and SQ

thanks.

I just got this in the mail today. I'll probably watch it tonight and leave some feedback.

I'm pretty sure the movie was released on DVD a few times, and the Blu-ray is pretty lacking in the features department so I'd say a re-release is certain. How long before a re-release is unknown of course though.

Memento is one of my all-time favorite movies. Got the crazy complex Collector's Edition on DVD. It rocks so hard. Man I love that movie. Can't say I'll be rebuying it though on blu. From what I hear it's not not up to par or worth the re-buy.

I really enjoyed the movie and I thought it had good PQ and AQ.

PQ is very good and the audio is almost completely dialog and sounds great in Dolby Digital 5.1

I currently can't take advantage of the uncompressed LPCM with my receiver

I loved the movie, but never bought it on DVD so it was an easy buy for me. I hear the Collector's Edition is awesome so you can at least wait until the BD has everything or more than the DVD.

At times it can look pretty good but the truth of the matter it has below average PQ by today's Blu-Standards. It has the early Blu-ray bug.. A shame really. It has a slight DVD look to it.. Kinda soft, kinda grainy. It's a great movie and well worth it if you never bought the DVD, or if you are like many (myself included) on here that just have to have the best PQ/SQ presentation available.

It is not a bad purchase but you won't be blown away in the in the Picture/Audio department but it's not a total let down either.

Im gonna wait for the re-release. The 2 disc dvd was loaded with special features, including the option to watch the movie in chronological order, which was super cool.

if you already have the 2 disc dvd then just get the blu-ray, its obviously an upgrade in picture quality. i kept the 2 disc dvd for the special features and the awesome packaging. i always thought the chronological version was a waste anyway, its not the way the movie is meant to be watched. i guess theres a possibility it will be rereleased to go along with Inception but who knows. now that i think of it, hopefully wb gets Insomnia out on blu to go along with Inception.

With Chris Nolan's "Inception" due this Summer, I'm hoping Sony re-releases this one with all the dvd extras included. The original release was one of the first BDs and is crammed on a BD25. I'd like to see them give it some breathing room on a BD50.

PQ and AQ = 3.5/5

i am hoping for a re-release, as its in my top 10 all-time

however, having said that, its still WAAAAY better than the DVD. the PCM track alone is worth it. this is a sound-intense film, as you guys know (narration, trance-type music, action sounds at times), so the audio track is actually more significant than you think and its easily worth the $$ IMO

Not only is it a BD-25, it's MPEG-2. MPEG-2 can be good when it's a high enough bitrate, but obviously VC-1 and MPEG-4 (AVC) are both more efficient codecs.

Hopefully we get Insomnia as well since both films are by WB while Memento Idk, I'm still waiting on it because it doesn't have the special features from the dvd.

Isn't this yr. the 10th anniversary of Memento? Seems like a good time for a re-release if so. Incredible movie.

Its wide release in North America was Spring 2001, but it was technically released at the Venice Film Festival in Fall 2000.
