It turned 4K DV on iTunes a week or two ago. It looks fine in Dolby Vision Bright on my 77A80J OLED. DV Dark was a no-go even in a pitch black room with this one as it appeared to be under-tracking EOTF which is not uncommon with Sony TVs. Not like unwatchable but just a touch too darker for my tastes.

There is a decent uptick across the board over the Paramount BD. The blacks look deeper over the BD giving that contrasty look. Highlights gets a moderate boost in certain scenes but you still get the lights looking diffused in certain scenes probably because there wasn't more highlight information that could be extracted in the grading suite.

I don't see anything crushed like seen in Wolf of Wall Street but I am not a pro and YMMV. It just looks authentic to how it was shot (clean digital look).

Btw, only the Theatrical Cut on 4K DV.

I’d love to check this out on iTunes in 4K from my Apple TV device, but since the Movies app went away last year and was replaced by the awful TV app, I can’t view any of my iTunes purchases in 4K if they were upgraded from HD. I’ve tried several things from multiple forums minus doing a hard reset cuz I don’t want to have to enter all my passwords again for my streaming apps. Is that what I have to do every time a movie gets upgraded?

Play movie, click/swipe down, info box will show SD/HD/4K. If HDR is available: HDR/Dolby Vision/HDR10+. And if Dolby Atmos is available: Dolby Atmos.

Also big thing: Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate titles are not Movies Anywhere compatible so if any are in your Apple library and are/were upgraded to 4K, you are almost guaranteed to get 4K. Unless you redeemed an old code that required a DVD disc to redeem.

On my phone, it says 4K. On my Apple TV device, it still says HD. There’s a lot of movies in my library like this.

Loads of movies purchased in HD got auto upgraded for me except for a few where the distributor is different or the same Studio does a different listing for the 4K.

I bought it for $4.99. I believe the movie was mostly shot digitally and even at 15 Mbps there is barely any artifacts unless I stick my nose on the screen in challenging scenes.

STOP. I finally figured it out, and I feel so dumb. I sold my TV last year before moving and completely forgot that my bf’s TV doesn’t have DV.
