The device revives the dead man, but he has become a monstrous, white-haired, vengeful zombie. Directed by Oscar® winner Michael Curtiz, this thriller is a must-have for fans of the genre.

I said it in the WAC thread and I'll say it here too. Karloff gave one of his most moving performances in this film. Right up there with Frankenstein and Bride. I went into this film expecting what the synopsis says above, only to be feeling devastated and in tears most of the time.

This film should be in every Karloff fan collection.

Given the very weak quality of the old DVD, I'm surprised that the original camera negative still exists. This should be a stunner. This film alone makes a good Warner month for me (and The Beast With Five Fingers makes it even better; couple that with Criterion’s I Walked With A Zombie and my Halloween month is made!).

Karloff achieves the height of eloquence in this film.

His performance is dark poetry, intuitive and deeply felt.

There are several shots during the resurrection process where Karloff looks just like the Frankenstein monster. Pretty sure that was intentional.

To me, his character looked like a more human Frankenstein monster after the resurrection. Basically without the blocky (fore)head and neck bolts. I felt like it had to be done on purpose for his character to remind you of the monster.

This has been on my want list for a long time, it always had bad releases with soft picture quality. Has an awesome trailer, so I am looking forward to it.

Plus as a gun collector, I've been dying to figure out what revolver Karloff has pulled on him @ 1:20 in the trailer lol.
