Default Question on making Blu-ray DVDs (quality)

I have question on how good the quality would be if I made a Blu-ray DVD of some old wrestling AVIs I have on my comp.
The quality is alright when I burn it onto a regular DVD, not the greatest or clearest, but watchable. Would burning it onto a Blu-ray make that much of an improvement inthe quality?
Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I'm not familiar with Blu-ray as I have heard from friends the quality is great and am debating on getting a player and burner now.
I was going to go get an HD DVD burner but since Blu-ray has one I am not going to anymore.

The quality will only be as good as the source.

Default okay..

That's what I wanted to know, if by burning it onto a blu-ray would improve the quality.
I'm wondering though, because when I'm burning the DVD with ConvertxtoDVD the quality looks pretty clear in the preview window. Maybe it could be my TV or something then, because when I view the DVDs on my much older TV the quality is a little better actually then my newer HD TV.

Standard definition content does look worse on HDTVs than on standard-def sets.

it will be like an upscaled dvd quality good but not great because when movies and tv shows are made on blu-ray they go through a whole process or making it look good or how the director would like to see it

I would recommend just leaving it on DVD's, unless you want to store them all on a single BD disc. Then, you can create a data disc and burn them. You could re-encode the video but generally it won't help, as a previous poster said, your only good as the source.
