Default Question about my old Onkyo HTIB...
My parents have an older Onkyo HTIB (LS-V500C) that includes the DR-C500 receiver. Anyway, this weekend I hooked up my HD DVD player to the system through Optical as thats the best it has. I started playing Constantine on TrueHD audio and it just kept Dolby Digital on the display. When I had my PS3 hooked to it and a BD with True HD, it would just revert to PLII instead of DD/DD TrueHD.

Now my question, what is my receiver doing? Does the HD DVD player down convert all audio to DD 5.1? Does the PS3 just try to force True HD to the receiver and it just reverts to PLII??

I am pretty much a noob when it comes to receivers. Anyone know for sure?
