Universal Studios Jurassic World Rebirth sequel (TBA)

The producers of Jurassic World Rebirth are already getting questions about the sequel to the latest movie (even before it opens) - and they're not skittish about admitting this year's installment leaves "the door open" for more.

"Each film is standing on its own, but I think you'll agree, we left the door open... " says producer Frank Marshall when asked about the potential for a sequel to Jurassic World Rebirth.

"You left the door open... very wide!" says the reporter. "We can't give away which cast members survive but we'd love to see them, back again"

"Yes, yes," replied Marshall.

Think I'm kinda done with this franchise to be honest. Too many fake dinos. I know some are like, that's the whole point. I'm like, shut up. There a line. The originals were more grounded and gave you a sense of wonder. The newier installments are just monster movies now.

Sorry to hear that...

I like monster movies, and I like ScarJo (and the other cast members here). And it definitely does sound like almost everyone is going to survive this one...

Until some other franchise can give us dinosaurs on the big screen of high quality, it’s the only game in town. I’ll always love this franchise warts and all.

I like monster movies too, but that's not what I signed up for with this franchise. Don't get me wrong, I'll likely still watch this. I just can't get excited is all. It feels like going into an animatronic zoo.

They can make a sequel for this sequel of Rebirth which hasn't even hit theaters yet, and should be planning it already as a trilogy. 3 is a lucky number and audiences like when movies are in 3's.

I'm sure most of the leads signed a contract for a trilogy. And hopefully Koepp will be along for those as well.

The beauty of it all is that Spielberg is still the mastermind behind the entire franchise.

Is Spielberg still the one making final decisions? That's at least hopeful.
I hope Rebirth is very good.
Things have been just okay since Fallen Kingdom JW.

I think him and Frank Marshall are responsible for a lot of the big decisions.

Sorta. I mean, Spielberg does have that power. For example, Universal also wants to make another Jaws movie. Spielberg said no and would have said no to the previous Jaws sequels as well if he had that power at that time. But ultimately he lets the studios and filmmakers do what they want when his not directing em *COUGHDIALOFDESTINYCOUGH*. So Spielberg being involve doesn't mean anything. I don't think people realize how much of a good portion of Hollywood Spielberg controls. He is pretty much involved with some of your other favorite franchises as well like Shrek, Men In Black, Twister, etc, etc. Again, doesn't mean anything.

From what I gather, Spielberg had the idea for this and hired David Koepp to flesh out that idea.

He also had the idea of Jurassic World and specifically mandates certain ideas he’s always wanted. Like raptors chasing a mortorcycle had been an idea he’d tried to get into the franchise since The Lost World and there were many drafts of Jurassic Park 4 with that in them. Or the mansion with dinosaurs auctioned off I believe was in a Jurassic Park 4 draft as well.

So he’s involved so much as the initial idea and the hiring of the directors. But then mostly lets them just do their thing.

I don't like the dino and human hybrid idea they have been trying to get off the ground for YEARS. Thus, again, why I don't like this mentally that, "they are all fake dinos anyway". No, that is going too far and if you continue eating up (no pun intended) every new idea they come up with to keep things fresh, eventually they will get to the dino and human hybrid nonsense.

Interesting, thanks. A new Jaws film in 2026 could be interesting if they add new ideas to it, but if Spielberg owns the rights, then I can understand him saying no. Jurassic Park, Jurassic World I like the best, but the other ones have been just okay in the series in my opinion. The trailer for Rebirth seems okay, but more of what we've seen before mostly.

They seem stuck with the idea that they have to risk everything and face the dinosaurs directly or build a new park. I think at this point, "World" really means just a small area of Earth with dinosaurs.

I do prefer real dinosaurs based on history fossils, rather than made up ones, otherwise it's like monsters based on dinosaurs.

I hope the new movie will be an improvement over the last few.

I believe Spielberg only owns half the rights to Jaws. Still, that's enough. Especially for Spielberg. No one is going to question him. You can't move forward with it if everyone is not aligned with the idea anyway.

Just to be clear, I don't mind fake dinos per se. My main problem is, that is your ONLY draw. No one goes for characters and storytelling with this franchise. For example: Okay, so Rebirth is just gonna ignore Dominion now? I'm sure Rebirth will address Dominion. My point is, you don't sense a sense of consistentcy between the two. Over relaying on "dinos" to bring butts into the sits, when they keep getting faker and faker with each new installment.
