Default Best position?

Hi

I have had my surround sound for a few days now and i am gettin my room sorted so that i put my home cinema system in the best position with my bed in the middle.

But the problem is i dont know where to put some of the speakers. Obviously i know where to put the tall boy ones in the for corners (with each one in the correct corner) But where does the sub woofer go? I have the centre speaker sitting ontop of the reciever but i dont know where the sub is meant to go to give the correct sound.

Get an SPL meter.

We should get a "SPL METER AND HOW TO USE IT" sticky for this, and the speaker thread......

why does everyone here favor the face to face? ...ilol

anyway, back to topic. You shouldn't put your speakers in the corner, it'll create sound stage. Left and right and center close to the screen, i'd say about 10 inches and 5 inches away from the back wall. Surround and rear should be at a littl eabove ear level *depend on what type of speaker* normally i'd put above ear level for most of my customers.
Subwoofer, now this could be tricky, normally people like to place them in the corner thinking that it'll sound loud. It is, but it won't be accurate. The correct subwoofer placement is right in the center. I only recommend this if you have a good sub, if you don't then just throw it in the corner and that'll do.
hope that help and again, great thread title lol
