Default Has region free ended?!?!

Is a Brit - I have been purchasing my Blu rays which are region free from the US - at about half the price they are in the UK.

I just checked out "I am Legend" , which is a Warner - and the US version has now a region?!?!

What is going on? Now the format War his won - does the ripping off begin? Are all Blu rays now regioned?

If you are going by the "Region: Region 1 (U.S. and Canada only)" info at Amazon.com, they are using a DVD template afaik and the info is false for the Blu-ray. Warner has stated publicy, that they do not want to start using region coding or BD+.

As the above poster states. Amazon and other such sites cannot be bothered to work out which titles are region free. So they just stick them into the category of their respective region. Since this is Amazon.com or whatever, its going to be region A. It does not mean it will not work on a Region B player.

Amazons region info is can be completely wrong... I've purchased a few titles that were listed as region free that I couldn't play (28 Weeks later and Ratatouille anyone?) and many that are listed as region 1 that I can. As the poster above said, http://bluray.liesinc.net/ is your friend...

don't ever check region codings on amazon or dvdempire etc... (on dvdempire you can check back side if there is ABC, but sometimes it's not proof )

always check these 3 pages :
