Anyone experiencing problems with the Sony ES STR-DA5300ES?

I've read about a few concerns that people have been having with this home theater receiver, more specifically the HDMI audio. I read somewhere that if you buy this unit, you need to make sure that the serial number is 8805018 or above, OR that there is a large green dot to the right of the AC power connector in the back of the unit. Supposedly, Sony has issued some type of "recall" for units with lower serial numbers without green dots. In other words, these units have some HDMI communications problems. Sony will either send you a working new receiver or they will perform a firmware update, don't know what option is better. Any comments on this issue?
