Default Theoretically, could motion flow be achieved other than through your tv??

Okay, bare with me here. I've watched this motion flow technology on display at Best Buy. Immediately the first thing that went through my mind was that it looked as if the picture was in sort of, but not exactly, "fast forward." I don't know, it's weird to me. It's like everything speeds up in order to give the illusion that it's smoother. After watching it, I thought I'd try a little experiment at home. I put in a blu ray movie on my PS3 and put it at fast forward for one click. Well lo and behold, what I was watching on my set ALMOST reminded me of the motion flow display I saw at Best Buy.

It got me thinking, I wonder if motion flow, or at least something similar to it, could be achieved from the blu ray player instead of having to buy another tv all over again. I'm no tech expert by any means. But I'll bet if a company devoted enough time and resources to it, they could make a player with this type of feature. I would love to hear what any of you tech savvy guys on here would say to this. Is it possible? I'll bet a player could be built with some sort of "fake" motion flow in the same way dvd players were made to upscale to 720p and 1080p.

It just seems kind of crappy that all the people who spent thousands on 1080p hdtv's a year ago or less will now feel like they are going to have to buy them all over again just to get the upgrade in quality.
