Question Superman II question

I am not a fan of the Donner cut and would much prefer to own the original theatrical release.

The BD release of Superman II doesn't include BOTH versions of the film by any chance, does it?

I thought The Donner cut of Superman II was ok but not great.I did enjoy the new scenes with Lex. But there was some other scenes I thought was terrible. Yeah I prefer The Richard Lester Cut.Dont understand why Warner has not released it on Blu-Ray yet? But I'm sure it will come out on Blu-Ray at some point.

That's what I was afraid of.

Superman II is my favorite of the series, but I have a lot of problems with the Donner cut. If owning Superman II on BD means owning the Donner cut or nothing, I guess I'll take nothing.

PLEASE, WB, release the theatrical version. Please...?

As crappy as #3 and #4 were, I'd still like to see them altogether in a set or so. Same as they are doing with the Batman movies.

The Donner cut is superior in every way to the theatrical mess.

It gets rid of idiotic stuff like cellophane S-Shields and Super Kisses.

Not to mention the 'Multiple Man' stunt by Superman in the Fortress of Solitude.

I do want to see the entire Superman Collection on Blu-Ray. But I'll stick with Donner for now.

To each their own. Glad you like it.

I personally find the Donner cut to be virtually unwatchable. *shrugs*

I think Man of Steel (the next Superman) is coming next year. Not sure if it is still on track due to the strike. Anyway, I would guess we will see all the Superman movies on blu then. The big DVD set came out with Superman Returns, so I hope we will got this next year

We won't get The Man of Steel till 2010 now if we are lucky that movie was originally suppose to start filming this March to get a summer 2009 release but with no script and Bryan Singer in question if he still will direct its gonna be AWHILE.

Let's hope 'MoS' isn't a complete boring rehash of a film like Superman Retreads.

Exactly. Lester's cut is like watching some other superhero in Superman's costume. Awful, awful film.

Indeed. Plus the fight with the Zod, Ursa, and Non is also better in the Donner cut.

Superman *GASP* actually gets to throw a punch in it.

+1 Here, I just watched the Donner Cut last night and I think as a whole movie its better than the Lester version. It does a much better job in explaining Superman's background and relationship with his father not to mention the super critical information on how Superman got his powers back and what he had to give up for his mistake. Of course the film was put together after the fact but I have no doubt Donner would have made a better job if allowed to finish the film as he intended back in day.

Heh, I was going to ask the same question.

I don't mind someone disagreeing with me. But it would be nice if they, you know, made an effort.

Hmmm... You guys are making me want to give the Donner cut another shot.

The girl & I got it from Netflix last Summer and I was definitely excited to see it, but ended up feeling let down by it. Neither of us liked it.

Maybe we need to give it another day in court?

It's a lot closer to both the first Superman film and the comics. The stupid powers in Superman II kill it for me. All around the Donner cut is a much better Superman film.
