Default converting to MP3?

hi, i know this is a stupid question for most here and is not the place for this but, i want to load all my music cd's into my computer with microsoft media player. i know i need to rip them all into the library, but how do i make sure they are all in mp3 format? i plan on buying an mp3 player soon to load all my cd music on. if anyone can lend some good advise it would be much appreciated. thanks

when you open windows media player go to the rip tab.. then format.. you can choose what formats to rip to. it will also ask you what bit rate you want.

once you set it it will default to mp3 format when you rip a cd.

thanks. what if you have done like 4 cds already? can you change them later?
