This is just a rumor at this point, and there is no confirmation. Would be great if it were true however.

I like the idea. Lets convert some of those renegade HD DVD owners into Blu-ray.

LOL "a Circuit City employee" talking about an offer that will only be honored if customers ask for it . . . sounds like BS to me. I could tell my friends to start saying the same thing and it'd be just as official.

From a validity standpoint... It doesnt sound promising.

However, if its true, I qualify! My player was bought in Nov for $100

Circuit City is in the process of getting rid of all their HD-DVD stuff. Buy three, get two free movies, and they have dropped prices on the players as well. So why would they offer a trade in for a Blu Ry?

The movie studios should let you trade in your old DVD movies and get a big discount off the same Blu Ray movie... like $10-15 upgrade per movie you already own.

Disney already does a similar thing, you just have to send in the DVD UPC I believe to get a $10 refund on a lot of catalog titles.

CC postion will be to take care of the customer plan and simple. I would think most retailers will (if they have not already) be telling store employees to do something simular... and of course they will not promote it.

At the retail level it is not worth lossing a customer over
