PS3 5.1 Audio in DivX? - Blu-ray Forum

Hey all, hopefully someone here has an answer for me.

I am trying to take some of my DVDs and rip them to a format that will play on the PS3 (preferably streaming through my PC as a media server, so I think it must be DivX?

Anyone have any luck with this? I'd like to keep the 5.1 audio in the DivX file if possible. I'm trying to do it with SUPER, as the DivX converter keeps crashing out. My settings are a .avi container, Divx codec for video, and AC3 with 6 channels (5.1) on the audio.

Use h.264 in mp4.. better quality and no filesize limit. I rip dvd to 2gb (roughly) files with surround via Dolby Logic II. I use Handbrake on Mac.. but there is a pc version.

I've got a ton of DivX files with AC3 sound (5.1) and they work perfectly on my PS3 (including the 5.1 sound). As for how you go about making them, no idea.

What is the file limit size on divx files on ps3? Maybe that's why they weren't working. I thought it was 2gb, but all of my files are around 1.4gb... so maybe the limit is 1gb?

I'll have to try handbrake, because my "SUPER" program won't let me do AC3 5.1 in a mp4 container with h.264
