Default Question about my TV set and switching to Blu-ray.

Hello. This is my first post here. I'm heavily considering switching to Blu-ray. Many releases are coming out that I'd much rather see in their highest quality. Since this is clearly where many experience Blu-Ray owners can be found, I wanted opinions from people who would know best.

With a TV like this:

Is it worth the switch? I've had the TV for a while, and have been running an unconvert player with my 400+ DVDs, and I was just wondering if the switch was a smart way to go with a TV that only reaches 720p.

I have the money ready, and I'm planning on getting a PS3...but I wanted some opinions first. Thank you, much appreciated.
