Default PS3: Your Top Favorite Games!

I'll be buying a PS3 soon, and will be looking for a few awesome games to buy. I enjoy FPS games, but not exclusively.

So, I was wondering what some of your favorite games are, and why?

Rainbow 6 Vegas is a really good game i would recommend. This game is not an exclusive to the ps3 console but it is a lot of fun. The single payer is enjoyable and the multiplayer will keep you playing for hours on end. The AI is not perfect, but it is a lot better then many FPS games that i've played. I enjoyed the game play and the weapons that are available. It has a short learning curve, and it's a blast to play

Warhawk - fun 3rd person online game with air and ground combat.

Assassin's Creed - Immersive environment and all around fun.

The demo to Uncharted was good. I have the game here, but haven't played it yet.

If you like baseball, MLB The Show 08 is great.

R6 Vegas was a good game, but I played it on the 360. I'm getting R6V2 on the PS3.

Ratchet & Clank was fun. It was my first R&C game and I haven't finished yet, but I liked it.

And of course, you can go back and pick up God of War 1 + 2 for the PS2 if you haven't played em yet.

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion: Game of The Year Edition

Why you should get it
1) Incredible, immersive world with over 200 hours of gameplay and I haven't even touched to 2 expansions included, you'll never run out of things to do. Plus thats just for 1 character class, and there are several.
3) It's like a next gen, free Roaming, do as you wish (ala GTA San Andreas) Diablo 2, but in First Person.
2) Cool weapons and spells
3) 2nd highest reviewed PS3 game on Metacritic.com
4) It's the 2006 Game of the Year!
5) Its absolutely gorgeous (try watching the Sunset from a bridge with the shimmering water)

2nd Best Game
Call of Duty 4
1) Multiplayer is excellent for the quick gaming, twitch fix.
2) Great Story

Stop it, just stop it.

I bought this game (the original version) on the 360 and have downloaded all the updates. I've played like 50 hours and feel like I'm just scratching the surface.

My friend "went back in" and swears he'll finish the game. Every time I hear "Oblivion," I want to do play again.

Perhaps this summer, I'll start over, buy the GoTY version on the PS3 and play 200+ hours.

Actually, I stopped playing because my biggest gripe of the game is level scaling on mobs. When I play again, I won't level up to the hilt before going to close the gates.

The level scaling isn't that big a deal if you strategize your own leveling up right, and your spells (weaken then strike).

Besides the level scaling is a acceptable trade-off for the "do as you wish" characteristic of the game, IMO.

Uncharted is so far my favorite. I finished the game 3 times already and I'm planning to play again to get all the unlockables.

NHL 08 (the EA one) - awesome hockey game
Uncharted - just an overall awesome game with a great story
Oblivion - best RPG for the PS3 at the moment, a shitload of gameplay
Ratchet & Clank - soooo much fun

I second this. Room take-downs with you coming through one door and your squad busting in through another is just too cool. I thought the A.I. was more than adequate for this.

I'll add Ninja Gaiden: Sigma. Why? Because I really wish I were a ninja, and this game is about as darned close as I'm going to get. Really, though, the gameplay IS SO dynamic and smooth that it almost makes me believe a human could actually perform all the crazy and wicked combos and jump and run along walls. It's also probably one of the most challenging - yet satisfying - games I've ever played, with tons of replay value just trying to master all the moves & combos. It's probably my all time favorite.

In no particular order...

1. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (still amazing on my third time through it)
2. Unreal Tournament 3 (great online play with customizable content)
3. LAIR (Short, but visually stunning and very innovative control system)
4. Assassin's Creed (Can be monotonous, but great interactive environments)
5. Resistance: Fall Of Man (The original PS3 FPS... what else needs to be said?)
6. ROCK BAND (Unbelievably addictive with amazingly expansive downloadable content)

The big thing is to not "wait until you're more capable" to do certain things. I didn't try to unlock the first gate until I was lvl 29ish and it was unbearable (if memory serves).

I made a new character tonight (360 version), but I can't find my strategy guide anywhere.

This is one of those games where you have to be committed. Coming back after about a year off felt weird. I couldn't remember much of anything.

Here are some great games that i have for ps3

Uncharted: incredible production values and storyline. is like playing through a movie.

Call of Duty 4: is probably the best FPS on the system right now. short but sweet single player and really great online multiplayer.

Assasin's Creed: very good production values, storyline, gameplay, and historical context.

Warhawk: awesome online play. use planes, vehicles, or fight on foot on huge maps. great graphics and lots of fun.

all of these games have great graphics and are all good in different respects, so they all offer something different

Devil May Cry 4 just topped my list of good games for the PS3. Very well done game.

Also good: Heavenly Sword, Lego Star Wars, Enchanted Arms

Call of Duty 4 is multiplatform, but it gets most of the play on my PS3 for the free online. I've played all the exclusvies, but have only liked two...

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Warhawk (online only game)
