It may be possible without being feasible.

Yes. You would have to use a power inverter though for both the tv and ps3

It would probably kill your car battery but yes.

could you even fit a tv big enough into a vehicle to take advantage of a blu-ray movie?

Where would you "mount" it?

Just out of curiosity, why in the hell would you want to do this? Bragging rights?

This could be problematic, though I'm sure someone could make it work given enough effort.

Power draw, heat dissipation, disc skipping, infiltration of dust/road grime, head crashes (from unexpected jarring/road roughness) in either the optical drive or the hdd could all be issues. I would not expect such an installation to last long. The ps3 was simply never designed for mobile use, in operation or robustness to the elements. That's not a sleight against its existing construction. It is just not designed for a car environment.

PS2s have been installed into vehicles, albeit I have no idea what all those aforementioned effects would have on its capability to function, or how long it would last in a vehicle. Who knows? Not me.

Hey, I did say it could be done, if someone wanted it bad enough. I just wanted to give a cautionary note that there are some considerable elements that would inhibit a slam dunk solution. I, certainly, wouldn't try it on the current model, but I'm fairly confident it would be a worthwhile project for somebody. Waiting for the next major revision model might make for a more fruitful effort, though. That might bring the power draw and heat dissipation issues back into a more "ps2 ballpark". I would still be concerned about the shock durability of the optical drive and hdd, though.

It is agreed that the ps2 wasn't necessarily designed for a car environment, either, but I maintain that the more sophisticated/elaborate a device becomes, the more vulnerable it can become to less than ideal operational conditions. The ps3 takes technology to a whole new level beyond the ps2 (as would be natural for a next generation device).

you would need at least one extra HEAVY DUTY BATTERY!!! and if you tried
to put any kind of SERIOUS hd screen in there you might need 2...

First and foremost, YES, it CAN be done. The PS3 and HDTV( why would you use anything else) would take ALOT of power but it can be done. Are you talking about a CRX or an expedition install? If you have enough money, you can do any kind of install and have it done correctly and with a somewhat long life span. If they can put satilite TV on an SUV( Pimp my ride) then they can do this. They could probably add wirless internet and have mobile online gamimg. It all comes down to money.

Even without n unlimited budget it can be done. If I win the powerball tonight, I will have it done next month.( going to just relax for a little while)
