Talk about everything German-Cinema on Blu related here.

Here are the only German films (that I know of, I don't think there are others) that are on Blu Ray on Earth at the moment:

Neues vom Wixxer - comedy, highly recommended

Lissi und der Wilde Kaiser - CGI animation comedy

Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others)

Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run - not released in Germany yet, only UK and US)

I'm unaware of any other titles that will be coming out. I've heard on this forum that Das Boot might be coming later in the year? I hope so. I actually haven't seen that film myself. Here are a couple titles that I suspect will get a Blu Release in the future...

Krabat (huge production film- German, older and more original version of Harry Potter, in post-production)

Good bye Lenin - was popular enough that it may get a release... I hope!

What do you all have to say?

I read somewhere on one of these forums that Downfall will will be comming out. I'd like to get 'Stalingrad' to go with 'Das Boot' & would love to see the original Nosferatu (sp) on blu-ray. That's about as much as I know about German movies.

just to name a few...

I imported about 70 DVDs from Germany (all german language films) so far and am looking to bring back a bunch more this year... if there will be more BD announcements in the next 3 months I am thinking of getting a german PS3, and switching some to Blu-ray

Downfall is already available in high resolution, but only as HD DVD in Spain!

But at least a master exists.

I had forgotten all about Neues vom Wixxer, which was in fact the first profile 1.1 BD worldwide! Do not know the movie, though.

Ja, komme urspruenglich aus Deutschland, seit ca 7 Jahren in Hawaii.
Finde manchmal echt schade dass die meisten deutschen Filme auf DVD keine englischen Untertitel haben, da meine Frau leider kaum deutsch spricht - wird sich wohl aendern muessen!

Oh wow! Didn't even realize that "Neues vom Wixxer" is a part 2 !!
Haven't seen this one, yet. Hope it's as good as "Der Wixxer" which was hilarious!

Restored versions of the 'Sissi Trilogy', please.

And the restored "Metropolis". Also, can we have the Karl May classics?

Just get the US Version. PCM German audio and English subs. Plus it's cheaper than the German version

unfortunately I only have a region B player and the US version is locked

It's German expressionism. It was the french who had the impressionist movement.

LOL, I've made that mistake myself before. As for the person who asked about the German release of Das Leben der Anderen, no, it only has Deutsch Untertitel. Sorry.

Where do you live? I'm assuming the US due to your avatar. How in the world did you get your hands on a region B player? I never heard of an American importing one outside of Japan.

Thinking of importing one this year... but the exchange rate really sucks at the moment. 1 Euro = $1.57 !!

Should've left some money in a german bank I suppose! D'oh!
