Default Ridge Racer 7

I need to rant here.

So it came in the bundle with my PS3 from Costco. I've never played the series before, but I figured since I've beaten the rest of my games I'd give it a try. It would be a shame to never play a game I own even if I initially had zero interest in playing it.

To put it plainly, I hate this game - with a passion.

"Drifting" aside... car control is terrible, especially in the higher tier cars. Many of the tracks are stupidly narrow, and for some reason all 13 AI cars do an excellent job of clustering to the point where you need a crowbar to pass anybody. In the event that you actually do nick a wall mid-drift, the game feels it necessary to penalize you by grinding you to a race-losing halt because it's impossible to get off a wall once you've hit it.

I've struggled to finish the RSGP and the manufacturers races... I've got one race left that I know of in the single events. I "tried" the extreme races and I've got to say... WTF?!? After playing this game for over 20 hours, I still find myself unable to consistenly win many races, and on some tracks, I can't even place above last.

Don't even get me started on the "medals". This game is not for completionist personalities, like mine.

The only thing this game has going for it is 1080p/60. I'm anxious to be gone with it come GT5:P.

the demo was pretty bad all though when you install the demo and you are on the game select screen and highlight the game demo the music and the video it plays is really addictive and when I'm not playing a game or watching a movie I will just let the music play

I got to about 80 or 90% complete and it did get painfully hard. Still loved it up until that point. The very last series in Ridge Racers for PSP is practically impossible, worse than RR7.

The XMB thumbnail audio for the GT HD demo reminds me of Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill 2/3 compositions.

You know I was enjoying it for a while... I was doing quite well on the category 3 races.

I like challenge in games, but when there's no option to control difficulty and its getting to the impossibly hard point, I stop having fun. One of the things I appreciate most in modern gaming is that devs have found other ways to increase play value, rather than making their games really hard.

Back in the days of NES, beating a game was an accomplishment in itself. Now we have save files, cheat codes, downloadable content, unlockable content, difficulty modes, etc.

Your opponents have infinite nitro and you pretty much have to block them perfectly near the end to win.

this was the first game i bought on PS3 back when PS3 first came out and there were like 10 games. I got this and Tony Hawk Project 8. both WERE SO TERRIBLE, i almost lost all hope in ps3. thank god gamestop had a deal where u trade in 2 games and get one free, so i traded them in for resistance. best move i ever made. 15 months later and i still cant stop playin resistance. i think i beat it 5 times with my friends on co-op

I have this game, its not that bad, but Costco doesnt have the greatest taste when it comes to bundling their systems. I bought my PS3 bundle through Costco and it included "Gengi Days of the Blade". Oh, I hate Gengi.

That game sux. The handling is trash and the shifting just like the game. The demo sucked. I deleted after 20min. Never owned the older ones thankfully! Burnout series is far better out of arcade style games. Other then that i play GT and other racing games.

It was my first PS3 game back in Jan 07. It's a challange trying to drift and pass at the same time. I notice the cars bunch up only to spread out again, so you can dirve into the pack at the right moment. It's one of the games high points - there is so much going on around you. You feel you are on the edge between being in control and not being in control. Winning this game is all the more rewarding because you are not going to do it the first time around just by picking up the control and being fast.

First racing game I bought. I hated it because I just had the sixaxis. Last week I got the G25 racing wheel and this week a Playseat so I am playing it again. Not my favorite racing game but it's okay.

Genji was a good game.

The camera angles were just down right dreadful

Well, persistence has paid off. Finally achieved 100%.

I took down Angelus and Crinale last night, and finished the Opus races today. Talk about some hard stuff. Thank god for youtube vids.

In retrospect, the game's not all bad. I like it a lot more now than I'm finished it.

LOL! Ridge Racer has been an interesting series with its highs & it lows. Ridge Racer 4 was wicked. Since I just bought my ps3, i decided to pick up RR7. Plus it was on sale. I have heard that it sucks espescially the drifting, but I do enjoy the music. Hope to see some cool designs.
How is the online?

I think the people that say it sucks just don't like crazy-drift racers.
