Default Toy Story vs Shrek Showdown!

Okay so I have recently realized that both Toy Story 3 and Shrek Goes 4th are supposed to come out in the summer of 2010. Which one do you think will do better? I read somewhere that Shrek has always outdone the Pixar releases the same year. But without Toy Story we wouldn't have Shrek. I personally think Toy Story 3 will make history in the box office.

Maybe, but I'm not going to vote. I personally think that Toy Story 3 will be the higher quality of the two. Actually, that's almost a guarantee.

I love Shrek but the third one let down nearly everyone. I don't know how much they can milk it anymore. It's become what it came to critique and parody.

Thing is, sequels are tricky business. The safe money would be on Pixar. Shrek, I think, hit its peak with the first film and it has been nothing but diminishing returns from there. From where I sit, Shrek, Road to El Dorado, and Madagascar have been the only notable works to come out of DreamWorks Animation since the whole company was founded. Pixar's glory years can't last forever, but there is nothing to indicate those years are fading. It took World War II to knock the floor out of Disney in the 30's and early 40's. I think it's going to take World War III to do the same with Pixar.

the first shrek was good the second and third were aweful and toy story i luv both of 'em
but kids love shrek thats y its one of the biggest grossing franchises around $700 mil worldwide for 3rd i think it was so i dont know but i would luv it if they stop making shreks
Hope toy story smashes shrek and the shrek makers get a hint from that

TOY STORY 3 is shaping up to complete the best animated trilogy in the history of cinema...

Shrek Goes Fourth - I can only hope they do it right, otherwise it's another mediocre animated feature film from Dreamworks again...

Exactly how many theatrically-released animated trilogies are there in the history of cinema?

Not sure which will do better in terms of Box office takings, but there's no question that Toy Story 3 will be a far better movie, by miles.

i have been waiting for a new toy story for years. The fact that it has been so long leads me to believe that this is going to be a quality movie and not the garbage that was known as Shrek 3

Toy Story 3 Is going to be in 3D so I would say it will beat out Shrek on that alone and it has been a whlie since the last toy story movie

Shrek's really getting played out by now. Many people were disenchanted by 3. Can the world really survive with another Shrek movie. On the other hand Toy Story is a huge franchise with Disney. Toy Story 2 is after all the highest rated movie ever on Rotten Tomatoes. We know that Disney and Pixar can pull off another classic.

Shrek, it was humorous to everyone, plus it's more recent, when was Toy story 2 released? the longer they go the chances increaase of it's fans forgetting about it, and moving on to the 'new' thing. by the time toy stoy 3 comes out toy story 2 will be over 10 years old...
