I don't have one, but looking at it in the players section, it doesn't look worth it.

I am a huge fan of Sony ES source units. I have the DVPS9000ES.
That being said Sony really rushed this player out to get in before the 1.1 profile deadline, and more importantly botched the audio capabilities in the player IMO. I am sure it is a tank, but it cannot bitstream or internally decode DTS HDMA and it is as slow as a snail by all accounts. Depending on the rest of your gear, if you are looking to spend that much for a top flight BR player (build quality and feature set) look at the 2 Denon players. |

I OWN A SONY BDP 2000ES Its ok , but it take along time to load a blu-ray . The sound is fantastic , I can decode Dolby digital sound plus DTS MA . Thats what I think . I payed 299.00 dollars at the sony store in pleasant prairie , wi . But if you want the 5 year warranty you need to pay about 89.00 extra for it . It was refurbished unit from sony it plays well when it running , I cant complain . But the only thing I don't like is that you have to wait about a minute or two for it to load the blu-ray , but the dvd's load fast and look better on this model . It up-converts it to 1080p thru HDMI cable .
One thing I want to point out is this is a latter model . If I'm right its from 2008 model of blu-ray player . So that may explain why its really slow loading the blu-ray's . I remember when the first laserplayers came out it also loaded slow . The same thing with dvd back in the latter part of the 1990's also . I see with the newer blu-ray players they have blu-ray live , If I wanted to access the internet , then I would us my computer , not from my blu-ray player . I see some people like that the blu-ray players can update the firmware from it menu , not like this model where you need a computer that windows based to download the firmware to install it . I would like to hear from other people that have this model to no there insight on it . Have anyone used the analog cable out for the full blu-ray sound , its it better . I am using a Digital coaxial cable to process the sound . Some people say to use the players built in processor to do Dolby True HD and DTS MA processing . My receiver is 10 years old from Marantz model 18ex . Let no how you like this model . |
