Default Silly things to note of in movies.

Why when you enter a military bunker are there people always welding? For what purpose? What are they doing it for?

CEo3k - There is a shooting star in almost every night sky scene!

Why do logon screens on computers always consist of just text? I've not seen a computer that has just green text over a black screen since the 80's.

In Hostel at the end an Asian girl with half a face seems to be able to walk around a train station without so much as anyone saying "are you ok?"

Ewan Mcgregor in "The island" learns how to drive using only theory. Yet in the movie after only 10 minutes of real driving he can drive like a stuntman doing 180 degree donuts and power slides (I must read up more).

In Apocalypto, it seems the more you get injured, the faster you run which leads to quicker healing. Run for 30 minutes and clock up 20 miles and your right as rain.

Thats just a few, amuse me with your own findings.

Titanic where Rose chops the cuffs from Jack precisely in half with her eyes closed. It brought the whole movie down even when it was meant funny

In "Batman Returns" Batman puts his tumb up high above in the sky from the Batplane to commissionar Gordon that everything is OK. Standing from the ground he has very sharp eyes and also gives a thump back

In "The Librarian: Quest for the spear" They jump out of a plane to escape the bad guys. They land in the jungle and proceed. The jungle is big but the bad guys come with their four wheel drive exactly where the good guys dropped. Amazingly enough they find his jacked too. "Yeah, here they were"!!!

I don't really have anything to contribute to this thread, I just wanted to necropost it before Cremildo.

As far as silly things movies thankfully don't account for most times? Thankfully, movies don't account for when people have to use the rest room to brush their teeth and wash their face for example, unless it's a comedy or something. Or part of a scene where that's just part of the introduction to the characters going about their lives.

That's what's nice about movies, we don't have to see everything the character did during the day, just the key moments that progress the story.

As far as characters doing extraordinary things in movies, a certain level of disbelief makes it easier to be entertained, without worrying about too many little details, like how in Rise of Skywalker, the Emperor
[Show spoiler]cloned himself and why he used Snoke as a clone puppet?

Saving Mr Banks is obviously taking place before 1964, but when PL Travers enters the hotel room, she comes across a Winnie the Pooh plush, commenting "poor A. A. Milne". However, the first Winnie the Pooh short, Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, came out in 1966, so it's unlikely that there were already merchandise for a short film that would come out years from then.

Punisher War Zone is a movie that has little relation to reality with loads of absolutely unbelievable action sequences. Because so many things are over the top, noticing that Frank Castle is able to walk around the streets and subway fully armed and in his Punisher gear without anyone batting an eye would be appropriate for this thread.

Whenever I’m watching a movie that takes place in the ‘70s or earlier, I always look at the phone cords to see if they have modular plugs, which were not used until the ‘80s.

In Temple of Doom you can survive a plane crash by jumping out if it in an inflated life raft. Planes will always be safe in that universe with a simple life raft.

Definitely photography in movies.

Nothing irks me more than to see someone shooting with a medium format or digital camera and then inspecting or printing with 35mm negatives in the darkroom.

I'm so sick of survivalist-style movies in jungles or forests where the main character is on the run from a bunch of killers, yet manages to find time (presumably days) to sharpen wooden stakes, dig pits, set up elaborate spring-powered traps with branches and spikes, AND THEN the bad guys just happen to walk into those exact spots and get bumped off. Is there no jungle in movies bigger than a local park?

Most movies have a music score. Where does the music come from? Is there an orchestra just off to the side?

But they landed on a snowy side of a mountain so that lessened the impact.

Invented in 1973, modular plugs started to be introduced in 1974 by most phone makers. We got rid of our wall mounted rotary phone for a touch-tone phone with modular plugs in '79.

Yes. In the olden days they used to only allow union musicians, but these days they'll let anyone in.

In Top Gun when Maverick is dog fighting against Jester, he hits the breaks so Jester will fly by so he can engage Jester. When he does so you can see it's a model because a piece of the F-14 Maverick is flying comes off.

I didn't notice it, it was pointed out in one of the commentary tracks.

Being able to run through and break glass windows. Glass breaks easily and no cuts, scrapes, anything.
